Got a pair of these on ebay before. They are in really nice condition, in the photo they have the solid headband with the silver akg logo on top, i would imagine these are the late production ones, they also have the original box with them cant wait for them to come. Anyone heard these before, i dont expect them to sound like current modern akg,s but i want a toe tapping headphone that just conveys music, i like the k140,s i got so was hopiing these would be better. paddy

The K240 Sextet sound awesome if all the drivers are working fine. Some even prefer it over the K340. Check the condition of the elastic bands, if needed there is a Beyer velour pad that fits and will make your listening experience much more enjoyable. Cheers and good luck.

Thanks miguel Everyone seems to think these are good hf,s, should get them by the end of the week and will check them over after a good listen. They are 600 ohms so i hope my xcan v2 will run them ok. I also recently aquired a k140 carden (closed back, 600 ohm) which are supposed to be called baby sextetts, i am going to mod these to the max as i like the sound out of them cosidering they are 35 yrs old Anyone else have any experience with the k240 sextett. paddy

Are those Beyer velour pads also usable with newer K240 versions and the Superlux HD681/H662B or Samson SR850? I think all variants of K240 (even the very old ones) and the headphones that have a similar design (HD681/SR850 etc.) have pads in the same size. Is this correct?

Got them nearly 2 weeks now. The elastics are shot and looks like the foam rings around the back of the pads has gone inside, but i have now got new elastics, new foam rings and new damping felt rings for inside the back. These are the late production (LP) ones with the six white radiators with the solid headband. i am going to renovate these in the next week with the new parts, Mmm dont know wheather to change the cable for kimber pbj like i have done in the k140,s as they are sounding better with 5 days burn in through the radio, just that the kimber is stiff and microphonic but if i stay still it,s ok. Get some pics of them on here once i have sorted them. paddy

Shot of the 6 passive radiators hence the name sextett, these sound a lot better now everything is more focused and cleaner sounding. These are worth buying off ebay and doing the bits yourself, they are easy to take apart and put back together even for a noob like me. A very musical set of phones that are worth the trouble. [/img] Sorry about the shite quality of the pics, i used my mobile phone. paddy
