I've emailed back last Monday and received an automated reply saying he was away until Wednesday and he would make contact as soon as he returned but heard nothing.
I sent a PM yesterday morning but haven't heard anything. Is the PM broken on here?
Can anyone help?

There is no problem that I am aware of with the PM system. Perhaps Mike may notice your post ? SandyK

If you wait, Mike will get back. It's better not to keep sending, thinking that he hasn't got it. He's incredibly busy!!

Mike's not upset that easily! If you wait until he wades through his emails, he'll get to yours. Mike, you need a secretary and personal junk-mailer.

Chris, My apologies. I have been having a break away from the computer screen for a few days.... I've had a serious case of eye strain and just needed a good rest from the screen. I've been spending my time working on a few of my own projects and generally stocking up on parts and re-organising the workshop. My "one week" off has turned into "two" but I am back now

Mike, have your new glasses not worked out? Ian, Yes, they are ok but I need a pair for close up work and a pair for looking at the computer.... I am CONSTANTLY interchanging the bloody things.... Maybe it's nothing to do with the glasses, there are dark rings around my eyes and everyone I know is saying "you look really tired".... I don't know what it is but I certainly can't do a 16 hour session in front of the computer like I once could

I'm the same. Can't stand bi or vari-focals. The vari-focals made me fall down the stairs once.
I do something really eccentric sometimes. I wear my reading glasses right down on my nose and my long distance above, so that I can peer down to read with my head tilted up and then look all snooty while I look through the other pair by lowering my head and raising my eyes!!
I've also found as I got older that I don't need so much sleep. I wake up very early 5.30 or so quite naturally and when it first started to happen, I was quite bothered by it, so I took up podcasts big time and reading. I can quietly stay in bed listening to stuff while the wife kips and I do a lot of reading to just give myself something else as an interest.
To really cut off, I go fishing.
I'm coming up for some new glasses soon.... dreading it.

Ian, I "wrongly" still resort to self medication of an evening in the form of a half bottle of Scotch and a few beers.... it gets me "off" nicely and I don't wake up till 10am (or 2pm on Sundays)..... Recently, though, I've noticed that I'm getting up at 7am, as I'm dying for a pish, and I tend to "stay" up. I have NEVER done 7am, it's not me.... when I was in my "prime" early evening was when I awoke all ready for the night life..... 7am? I'm taking really badly to this! Next thing I'll be soaking my teeth in a jar of steradent and avoiding "spicy" food..... On a serious note, though, my body IS starting to complain BIG TIME..... burning the candle at both ends is fine when you're in your teens / 20's but a 49 year old cannot cope with daily abuse of the system. It's taken me a long time to realise it and I suppose I am quite fortunate I have lasted this long but it's time for me to stop the booze.... my body just doesn't do what it once did

Mike,
Go slow. Cut down in milli bits.
Nearly lost my sister through her drinking. She nearly copped it. She was also a different person when under. Truly scary.
Truth is, she wouldn't have stopped unless she really wanted to and it was her near death that did it in the end. Fear got the better of her and thank goodness she was at least scared of something.
I also went through a phase when I was younger when it became a habit like brushing your teeth. It is really hard to stop it but my sister also scared the bejaysus out of me.
Nowadays, I get stuck in at Christmas and my birthday and that's it!!
