I have two Edirol recorders that I use Alex. Really high quality recorders but not that cheap really.
The other thing is that you can only stick line in or mic in so it comes out analogue and has to be converted to digital by the machine. There's no way to get the files off CD direct (or no way I can see) so you can lose quality that way.
I'm currently doing a baby music CD and it's being mixed onto the Edirols at CD quality and then CD's can be burned from them, but they do go higher than normal CD quality which is great.
Something I'm interested in is the Brennan JB7. The theory is that you insert CD's which are converted to files on the machine at whatever quality and then you have instant access to all of your music.
I wonder whether anyone has tried one?

Ian As it is a USB device, and recognised by the PC as such, shouldn't you be able to rip files directly from your PC to the recorder's CF card ? You can drop and drag the .wav files directly to your PC for editing It is supposed to be able to store photos etc. , so I imagine that this may be possible ? Alex Alex

I can drag and drop either way. It's just getting a high def rip in the first place. How does he do that, or is it live music? (In which case it's easy)

I was wondering if anyone on the forum did any stealth recording of live concerts. The London Symphony Orchestra comes to a music festival @ Daytona Beach every other year. When I bought the tickets I was able to get in the center of the auditorium. Got a pretty decent recording.
I used to use a 1992 Aiwa mini disc recorder but have sepped up to a marantz PD 620. My excuse for buying it was to mike the grooms in my wedding videography business. I use a stereo lapel mike set that R.S. was clearing out in early 2003. They sold for $30- but were on sale for $15-, so I bought two to have a backup. They are the audio technica miniature lavaliere mikes. Also use a set of shure canal phones for monitoring when necessary.
I'd like to hear about other stealth recording setups.
