Why bother with padding? Instead why not use thick (1/8" or so) leather as used in horse saddles just cut to the right size. The padding is just for fun, to learn one might say. Some suggested it, so I will give it a try. I have thougth about using thickker leather, but it is not easy to get at dumpingprices. I can get a hole skinjacket at 10$, also people can donate some leather clothing in exchange for a headband. I do think that the soft kind is much nicer to wear.. Just cutting a piece to the right size is "to easy" where is the fun in that ?, anybody with a pair of sissors can do that.. I am not doing this to earn money, just for the fun of it and to spread some joy among forummembers.. If I were to sell them the prices would be insane, I do use 2-4 hours a piece, which would mean about 90 $ or so a piece. If I had to use my workhours for it.. And for a 20 $ phone that is a bit OTT.. Maybe in the future, I will sell some at a fair price say 25 $ or so, but going lower than that is impossible and would spoil the fun and make me feel like a slave I can do those thick headbands if somebody wants them and are willing to supply the leather or pay for it, no problems in that, but it would not look that great without the ues of a sewing machine.. I will however think about it, maybe I could use an old suitcase for the leather ?? Thanks for the inputs

Mick (heliharris) yours are up next. This one is getting some extra work put into it, I am not quite sure what How about some embossing ?? initials, name ? It will also be the first of my new batch of leather.. Any suggestions ?? I can also just go crazy ?? ;D ;D Why this one is going to be special ? Well you spend time and money making metal rings for free and are also a nice bloke.. Also it is quite fun experimenting. Let me know.. If anybody has some old coats or other clothes of skin/leather, please donate so I can keep this running, you will also get on the top of the list by donating And help making other members happy (I hope ).

Thats very nice of you Claus, and like insomniac it would be an honour to have, after the hard work and effort you have put into your project, nothing special though, the same as everyone else is getting, would be great. Thank you Claus

BTW.... I've got an old "battered" leather jacket (bomber jacket) from the early 1980's (brown leather) and will be happy to send to you.... it cost me £700 back in the day so is "quality"..... It will take a few weeks to send due to the weight.... I'd rather send it surface mail.....
PM me your delivery details and I'll get her boxed up for you.
Mike.

You guys are getting my "trainingweels", it is a bit unfair to be the first, because they prettier over time ;D ;D Mike@ If you strip the zipper lining etc, it will be much lighter and you can save a few bucks.. I am in no hurry, so ship the cheapest way possible.. BTW I have almost figured out how to make those earpads in a decent way, not like those german ones, more like the Beyer custompads I just need to find me a sewingmachine..

looking better all the time claus . happy to see padding making its way into the mix. I'd take a tip from the senn hd550 and leave the top middle no pad. seems many complain about the akg k710 headband and the top middle bump. just a thought, keep up the good work. Peace

You sound like my wife when she's at the kitchen sink. Ian Was that a compliment ?? ChaZ@ The padding will in not be on the headbands for the 681, it will be on the bands for 660/Beyer.. I do not think padding will add to the comfort, it will just make your heads boil, also it complicates thing and will not be pleasing to the eyes.. If Frans/Mike and Dave reports back that they want padding, I will reconsider it ofcourse..

Just finished with a quick mockup of a headband for HD660/Beyerstyle I need to get a way to get rid of all nasty those bumps.. Any ideas ?? My thougths goes in the line of making the bend and then glue, so that the underside will be a bit shorter than the top.. Cutting the foam will only make it worse, have tried that and it only made the bulks worse.. Maybe some harder foam, but I do fear that it will hurt the comfort, like thinner foam would. The comfort is exellent it just looks goofy. Mick@ I will wait to make yours until I get some feedback from the three I have sent out, if one of my victims has a great idea (or complaints), it should be worked into the next bands.. I see nothing wrong with them, but I could be blind, seeing that I make them myself.. So please do not hold your punches, criticisme is the only way to get better.

Claus, stop criticising your work all the time, looks brilliant to me, i would be happy with any of your work, more than happy to be a "victim" as you put it. Mick.

I am not putting myself down, I am proud of my work, do not doubt that.. It is just the way I express myself, a lot of danes do that, it is a national disease ;D ;D I do not know if you ever heard of "janteloven" that is the danes in a nutshell.. sad but true, we even think it is funny.. Mick Yours are ready Send me your details.. I have started on the next batch of leather and it was very different from what I got from Frans, I am not even sure it is called leather, it is skin but has a wowen backside, which makes it less prone to stretching, so I made it without the string. It was much easier to make and saved me a lot of time too It can not be used for saving yourself if you fall down a mountain like the others, but I hope it will be strong enough ;D ;D
