Will
I haven't read this article yet, but I have read others and it stopped me buying for a time. As you know I was then tempted by an eBay Crucial 256. Its in my little ITX machine with about 400 CDs worth on it. As you say it shouldn't be a worry as most of the data will remain unchanged.
The little drive transformed the usability of the ITX, though it still isn't any good for HD movies as Spirit and Alex feared (it was already purchased by then).
It is also running with a tiny fan set to run slowly just to keep the air moving, I put this in when I was still trying to achieve HD capability, now given up though it was always primarily intended to be a music machine. Except for the 24/96 limit its about perfect!
My son was so impressed with the difference he got one for the more normal reason, speedy startup on a games machine.

I'm not going to bother for a while. They're still not close to mature, and are improving seemingly every second week.
Besides which, I want SLC, not MLC. (10+x as many writes/sector before failure)

Syd Hi Syd, I was going to send you this link, as a FYI, but I saw your post here. 400cd's is a hell of a lot, but it's pretty convienient that they are all stored on the SSD. Glad it's sounding good, as well I posted this in general as information, and not to scare monger. It makes sense to me to goto SSD in the long run for music storage, so the more informed about SSD we are better.
