First you have to fold the retaining lip out over the Velour, as it comes folded flat against the rubber. Then its a matter of laying the pad on the Headphone cup,and starting from the most awkward point,( under the headband), hold the pad tightly against the cup and start folding back the retaining lip, over the edge of cup, working your way round( much like putting a bicycle tyre on), you have to be a bit force- full with it, but it will go, the last inch is the hardest to get over. Hope this helps!!.

heliharris has a good method too. I do it like this. First you have to fold the retaining lip out over the Velour, as it comes folded flat against the rubber. Then its a matter of laying the pad on the Headphone cup,and starting from the most awkward point,( under the headband), hold the pad tightly against the cup and start folding back the retaining lip, over the edge of cup, (until now the same as heliharris so I'll just copy his text ) then I take a number 1 flat screwdriver (or if you are not a daredevil like me the back end of a small teaspoon for instance) and stick this under the retaining lip (don't stick it in too far or you will pierce the plastic lip ) and 'slide' all the way around the cup until you have reached the starting point again. Just like you would do with a tire iron. You must be pressing down on the pad where it is already in the right position. Also here the last part must be done carefully. Takes a bit of practice I guess but this way you can slip them on there in about 20 seconds or so.

Done it-turning the plastic bit back was the part I didnt realise. Worth it though-they are supremely comfortable. Its like resting your head between a big ladies thighs.

the price of velour pads included shipping will be between E 20 and E 21 (depends on the ordered amount ) I'll elaborate why.. they are E 16,80 each with Dutch VAT (UK VAT is lower !!) on the Thomann site where I buy them. BUT an order will need to placed with a minimum value of E 25.- Plus E 8.- shipping (doesn't matter how much you buy only one shipping costs) so if you would order them yourself you will be paying at least E 33.- and you would have to but something else from them to reach the E 25.- minimum order amount. What I do : I order say... 5 of these things (5 x E 16.80 = E 84.- + E 8.- shipping) = E 92.- divide it by 5 (the orderd amount) = E 18,40 + shipping (is around E 2,60 included envelope) so a total of E 21.00 So more orders.. lower the price... Frans

Hi Frans, Hope I'm not confusing matters but just wanted to confirm my requirement as per our PM exchange. I am to forward my current headset for you to build-in the filters (one in each ear presumably?), tidy up my cable replacement soldering and fit velour ear pads (I rather like the idea of listening to my favourite music whilst having my head between my ladies thighs - I look forward to the experience again ). Any questions, you know where I am . Thanks again for all your efforts, Dave.

I received my Velour Pads and Filter from Frans yesterday, fitted them last night and had a quick listen before SWMBO called me down to eat. The cans struck me as much more natural sounding. The top end has been tamed beautifully by Frans' filter and along with the bass that Micks mods had already tightened the result is an improvement across the board. Frans' filter and the ring/end cap mods from Mick have changed what was already an excellent headphone into something more akin to a £150+ can. Many thanks to the both of them for such excellent mods I'm currently listening to Nirvana Live and Unplugged on my work rig with the custom HD681s in situ and it sounds as good as I've ever heard it. I often listen for extended periods of time at work via my Sennheiser HD595s but the HD681s always cooked my ears or became fatiguing after an album or so. Not a trace of either problem so far as the last track starts playing as I type. Once again cheers to Mick and Frans for these cracking mods Ian

I've been listening to these things all day and with no trace of fatigue.
As for the CMoy I only tried it this morning to see how it sounded but it blows my Solo, Novo and Aune out of the water (with the custom HD681 I hasten to add). Someone try a CMoy and tell me I'm not deluded. I have never heard such synergy betwen an amp and can before.
The custom HD681 through the CMoy is one of the cleanest most energetic sounds I've ever heard. The music is so vibrant you can almost taste it. I knew my CMoy was good but it's an amazing match for the HD681. A direct comparison with the Novo was like listening through socks and I thought the Novo sounded pretty good with the HD681 before I tried the CMoy.

Hi Toad, Yes I have but mine have an external box filter (al la Frans via Puffin) but no Mike rings yet - mine are in Mike's queue ATM - sounds as though they might bring something extra to the party but ATM I'm still very impressed.

Dave, Could you give me your opinion of the headphone output of your Beresford dac compared to the CMOY?

Hi Jerry, You make the mistake of thinking my aural sensitivity is capable of picking up any differences . I'll give it a whirl (if I can) and let you know but it may not be tonight. Currently (as of this afternoon) my 'supply chain' is PC to 7520 to LS Attenuator to Cyrus XPA to speakers. (FWIW the speaker connection is via some silver cable bought cheap as ex-bankrupt stock - very good investment - and the LS to XPA is via some ex-eBay 'johnandchris1' hand made silver phono leads - and it's never sounded so good ). Problem is that the 7520 is fed by USB but the C-Moy has only phono inputs so I'm not sure how I can make any direct comparison - or am I being stupid (again ) - any polite suggestions?

You dont have a CD player as well? If not, it doesn't matter. It would have been interesting to know what you thought prior to the Beresford upgrade that I know you are getting and then doing the comparison later

errrrrrr, umhhhh, yes I do actually! So, tests required = CDP into 7520 into HD681s compared to CDP into C-Moy into HD681s ? Not quite like for like as CDP to 7520 is by co-ax while CDP into C-Moy is by phono - will that be OK? - not being a funny nit-picker, just want to be sure you're OK with that comparison. Given the state of my hearing and my memory, and the time I expect Jimmy to take with his bit, unless it really is a night and day improvement I'm not sure that my opinion will carry much weight.
