More ramblings from a delusional old man.

I recently replaced the front mounted HDD fan, which is a 80mm Thermaltake MB speed controlled fan, with a new one, because the original was slightly noisy.
It was installed using soft rubber AFM02B mounts as well.(It only idles at low speed almost all of the time.)
That resulted in a further audible improvement when ripped directly to the 32GB Corsair Voyager GT USB 2.0, and played back directly from there using Creative Media Source Player.
Yesterday, I fitted a toggle switch to the front of my PC for the front mounted HDD fan, and did some new rips of Norah Jones-Come Away With Me, 24/96 Fleetwood Mac- Rumours, and 24/192 Carly Simon -No Secrets, DIRECTLY to the 32GB Corsair Voyager GT USB 2.0.
Without the fan running during ripping, the slight "edge" is off Carly Simon's voice,
I have found new tracks with Norah Jones that I really like. 24/96 Fleetwood Mac -Rumours ,like all the others, has more dimensionality, more stuff that I never really took notice of previously, and all sooooo easy to listen to !
Interestingly, the LED that has a series 10K resistor, to limit the current drawn from the 3 pin fan terminal on the mother board to 1mA when the fan is switched off, and is there mainly as a reminder to switch the fan back on afterwards, is pulsating at about 10 pulses per second.
That's something I can't ignore !
Personally, I think there is too much concentration on "shutting the gate after the horse has bolted"
although the hard work work by Wavelength and others, should then pay even further dividends ?
