My X-DACv3 does not lock on to the optical digital audio output from my satellite receiver. The X-DAC does lock on in the sense that the 'optical' light is steady - and that I can hear the analogue output. But the sound mutes for a split second, every 4 or 5 seconds or so; it keeps dropping out.
It did this with my Sky+ box - and I wasn't really surprised because I put it down to maybe a poor quality output from the Sky box. However, I have just bought and installed a Humax Foxsat HD PVR, hoping that this digital problem would be resolved but the same thing happens with the X-DAC.
The X-DAC is well out of warranty so I won't be attempting to have this repaired - I am just wondering if anyone else has experienced this.
Interestingly if I play back a recording from either the Sky box or the Foxsat, then the digital audio is perfect. Also if I pass the digital signal through a Philips twin deck CDR machine I have - then the audio is fine too; the Philips is re-clocking the data I expect.
regards,
Derek

Derek A wild guess. Could it be mpeg audio that needs a special decoder. Are you able to change digital output settings from the box like you can from some DVD players? I seem to vaguely remember something like that. (?) Alex

I can record digitally into my Philips CDR machine without problems - it seems to be the Satellit box / x-dac interface which is the problem. Derek
