Hello there.
I have a prblem with my X-10D. I have been doing some moving of furnature recently and had to turn my system off (as it's left on generally).
When I turn the power off, I get a very short high pitch screech through both of my speakers.
I was wondering if anyone else has had this before and if the Rock Grotto's upgrade would solve the problem.
I'm powering the unit via a MF X-PSU btw.
Hope you can help me.
Thanks Joe

Hi ringo. I had this exact same problem with my X-Cans. I suspected the power supply caps and I was right. Replacing these cured the problem. This is where the caps are located.

Hello Puffin.
Great... many thanks for the pic too. Would you know if the upgrade for the x-10d includes these caps?
How easy is the upgrade to do, are you happy with it?
Many thanks

The X-Can always emits a squeal if you power down with the headphones connected... a kind of whoosh, followed by a high pitched tone.... perfectly normal though I'm not sure if it's the same when powering down an X-10D...
Does the X-10D perform ok when it's switched on? If so, then it's probably ok....
The X-10D upgrade kit includes ALL the capacitors, both film types and electrolytics, and is pretty easy to install if you know one end of a soldering iron from the other.
All the best,
Mike.

Ringo,
I'll hook one of my X-10D's up tomorrow and unplug it to see if it makes the same power down noise all the X-Cans do.
Mike.

Hey Mike.
Many thanks... the unit works fine when it's on, it's just when I power down... a piercing, very short screech and then a very faint, very high pitch tone fading out.
It sounds like it would damage the tweeters...
If you could check yours for me that would be great...
Cheers Joe

Best thing to do is to power down the X-10D last if it annoys you

Since I replaced the caps in my X-Cans it has not made the noise when powering down?
