Hi all, I think my X-Cans V2 is a definite candinate for one of Mike's Capacitor upgrade kits! I need to buy some tubes first though so do you think this will be fine for a few more months?

A typical example of what's WRONG with MF's choice of capacitor in the V2.... it happens to all of them eventually and, NO, that will not be fine for a few more months, replace it or all of them IMMEDIATELY... in fact, don't operate the amp until it is changed.
I can send you some free Jamicon caps (enough to replace all the caps on the PSU board) or you can buy one of my kits, either the ELNA or panasonic ones.
Seriously, I strongly recommend you do not use the amp until you get that sorted.
Mike.

I've had another look at my V2 and it's actually one of 105c caps behind the headphone jack that's going. All the 85c caps on the PSU board are fine.
I'll PM you about the caps!

If it's one of the 220uF non polar (NP) output caps then DEFINITELY replace them! These prevent your headphones from damage (stop DC being outputted) if they fail then, BINGO!, your headphones could be damaged.
