Fritz, well enjoying the new Mac Mini 2.26GHZ C2D will upgrade RAM to 4GB for HTPC have optical into Onkyo TX875 sounds great but TBH I used to use the Mac Book Pro but that was a PITA every time to set up but no real difference in sound quality. The new Mac Mini is very happy with one display port driving 1920*1080 50/60 thinking maybe using the second display port for a small display for iTunes and such rather then the Aquos 52" Robert PS I use optical out into a DAC for both the desktop and the HTPC with good results

Hi Fritz, I use Itunes for internet radio and most other stuff, Cubase for my live recordings and output through an M-Audio FastrackPro or Focusrite Firewire Saffire.
The built in audio on my Macbook is ok as long as I have a decent headphone amp attached. The built in amp won't drive anything.
