Hi Clint,
Maybe replacing the electrolytic capacitors if they are still the original 1980's ones would be a good start. Also in the last photo... the two 8-pin chips on the right hand side.... are these op-amps? If so replacing them with compatible modern better performing variants should bring a noticeable improvement to the SQ.

How can i measured if the upgrades i'll try to make are really upgrades? I have good ears, but are that enough or are there any method or tool to measure pre-amp upgrades? I mean, something that give an indication of how flat and uniform the frequency response of the preamplifier is and how this response varies with output loading.
