Jeff you're a star ;D
Never heard of Dropbox before but it's a fantastic way of sharing large files.
Haven't had chance to watch it yet but will do shortly.
Thanks again

Bought some SHM cds. Wow, quite different from the normal version. Those that cannot hear the difference, don't need apply. Save yourself some money as they are expensive while those that can hear the difference enjoy!

Bought some SHM cds. Wow, quite different from the normal version. SHM? had to google it - (Super High Material CD) The theory behind it sounds good Thanks Cheung, I can't say that I have heard of Extreme before - although "More than words" seems familiar. I have played that track 3 times now and I really like it- superb, must go out and buy one of their albums.

Hi Chris,
Have a good tour around Youtube etc. before you buy. "More Than Words" is not exactly typical of their output as they vary across the spectrum a tad.

Although "Ten" is still my favourite Pearl Jam album, "Yield" is pretty damn fine too; From a more hit-n-miss album but this is a hit Oh OK then, one from Ten as well

Suberb Chris As part of my Crimbo, my better half stuck £50 on an HMV card. I'm going to our mall tomorrow today (I'm on nightshift) and will see if I can pre-order it before they go bust Jeff Jeff, I couldn't wait for the CD to arrive and found a torrent of the entire album. I used uTorrent to find and play it. E X C E L L E N T

Actually, don't have to worry too much when you buy the BEST OF or GREATEST HITS albums of any groups. The safest option when you are not too sure of any group or like all the songs from them. Extreme, like any rock group like Deep Purple, will have their fast tunes and slow tunes like Soldier of Fortune. Of course, there are many others on SHM. So choose those that you like, Greatest Hits or not, and enjoy. I do for sure for their sound quality. I'm just emphasing SHM. Anyway, that Extreme is The Best of album.

Hi Chong,
Have you done any direct comparisons, on your own system, between these SHM discs and standard CDs? As they sell at a premium I would to know that the retreival is improved, even if the music was impeded at production!
TIA
Chris

Have you done any direct comparisons, on your own system, between these SHM discs and standard CDs? As they sell at a premium I would to know that the retreival is improved, even if the music was impeded at production! Yes, I have heard a comparison in another Hifi nut system and generally the sound improves in these areas: 1) Relatively wider soundstage. 2) More details to be heard. 3) More dynamic. 4) Can heard music more at ease and not so stress out even at louder volume. It's more or less like the Bluspec CDs which Alex and I have some as well. The Bluspec CDs are even better in that they have a normal as well as the Bluspec CD in the same Jewel box for your comparison. So if you can't hear any difference in those Bluspec and the comparator CDs, you are out of luck, I guess, for the SHM-CD as well. So just continue buying the normal CDs. But I'm very confident you will hear the difference as you had sold hifi before and is quite atuned to what hifi nuts say. Else, I wouldn't have bought some for myself. Anyway, these are collector items and the price will go up when you are lucky enough to hit some jackpots just like the Mofi OOPs. BTW, I will be going into The Police Greatest Hits SHM-CD next. I have the normal version as well. So I will report when I have compared that. I suggest you try some as well. Just one or 2 pieces will do to compare to those albums which you have. Once convinced, you can go for more. Btw, I think I have already hit one jackpot in the Van Morrison! Wish that will be my CNY luck for a start. Here: www.amazon.com/Still-Top-Greatest-Hits-2cd-Morrison/dp/B0017U0APC/ref=sr_1_24?ie=UTF8&qid=1328692932&sr=8-24 For those that is of lousy sound originally, that will depend who the remastering engineer is. If someone of Steve Hoffman, Bernie Grundman or the famous hifi "god" Doug Sax, the remastered sound will definitely improve. But a lousy recorded master cannot be turned into a gem. That's impossible. It can only be improved to a certain limit. Ian will know that better after being in those recording studios thru his long career.

Perhaps he wants to be alone with his secretary ? Without revealing too much skin, yes, you have a point in general there! So a true hint there.

SandyK................ever the optomist You also have a true point there as he likes to fire people. Before I went home yesterday, an engineer from the R&D came to ask me whether boss going home yet and I told him no. So get the hint? Actually, I don't care as long as I can go home earlier.

Back on topic about music. Yes, I did compare The Police SHM-CD with the normal one. These two: Reference tracks used obviously something I like: 1) Roxanne 2) Do Do Do Da Da Da 3) Every Breath You Take In general, the original comments of 1) Relatively wider soundstage. 2) More details to be heard. 3) More dynamic. 4) Can heard music more at ease and not so stress out even at louder volume. still stand. But I will like to take out 4) and replace it with something more prominent from The Police evaluation session. No worry the police didn't come to my place. So ...... 4) The snare drumming took on a sensation of more dimensionality and an air of space within and around the drum. It's very obvious with Every Breath You Take. Mine is just a low/mid end hifi system. So if we go high end (real HIREZ and not super high price) the full spectrum of the differences will be even clear. So anyone wanted my normal Police CD, please PM me to make any offer.

Because I am in the process of getting my kitchen ready for a new one, I thought I would dig out one of my old Peter Gabriel favourites for a listen. DIY has been said to a few of my old bosses, that's why I work for myself ;D

Don't worry, I wouldn't bore anyone with Whitney Houston as she is already overplayed already. Let her RIP literally. Also, I wouldn't sleep you guys and gals with just only one from the dead. I'm going to have a "party" of the dead. So ............ Obviously, he had already broken free. To where we don't know. To be a woman? Surprisingly, this video sounds good. Really good!
