X2 I'm not really into country much but I adore the "American Recordings" series he did with Rick Rubin in the last few years of his life. What a voice

They are an acquired taste, and the production quality of their albums leaves a bit to be desired! but i love them none the less. Mick.

Have to get back into more heavenly music reproduction tonight, if I go home early, after listening to HP for some time. So I will play this apt title thru the speaker system which the HP will not be of equivalent, no matter what price. Superb song there! Really very ethereal and great vocal inflection from Kevin Patterson. How he can go so high? Some of the best songs from Great Britain. Don't forget England was last in the EuroVision song contest. Hard to stomich ..........

Quite agree, Patterson's vocals are a thing of beauty, however........ Fiction Factory were a Scottish band (from Perth, IIRC), not English P.S. - If you like Patterson's vocals, check out another fabulous Scottish vocalist - Billy Mackenzie (The Associates). He's done (among many other things) some work with Yello, but is sadly no longer with us.

Hi Chong, missing you on Will and Alex's thread how's the AKHA doing....hope it's still breathing and note you really have to get the distinction between us Brits right. Alan Hi Alan, Heh, heh, heh ............ Yes, still breathing and going to breath even better when going into Mk3. Yeah, I know Fiction Factory is Scottish. What I'm trying to say there is that there is a lot of great bands and songs from Great Britain (England, Wales, Scotland). I just don't know why England ended up last in the Eurovision song contest with such song talents there. Just like Liverpool FC was one time near the relegation zone of the Premier League which will be unthinkable for a team of such quality and tradition in them. Btw, I'm a Liverpool supporter or Kob, as is lovingly known.

Now something rather unusual for this thread. Below, you'll find a few examples of the work of Mani Matter, a very popular singer/songwriter in Switzerland, who died way too early. He sings in Bernese German, a High Alemannic dialect. I life now in the canton of Bern and the people here have almost the same dialect. Unfortunately, it's almost impossible to understand what he's singing if you are not talking Swiss German. That's bad, because the songs are really funny. I couldn't find his songtexts in English. Official website of his family: www.manimatter.ch/

I've been a Chris Rea fan for many, many years and often found this song made me quite emotional. Coming across this video makes it (for me) even more uncomfortable to listen to.
The line where he says something like Don't tell the little girl there's a Heaven, tell me, gets me every time.

Or the other way around ? You did say that your speakers are 6 ohms nominal, which means they most likely dip well below that at some frequencies. The label on your amplifier states 4 ohms MINIMUM impedance in Stereo mode, and 8 ohms MINIMUM Impedance in Bridged mode.

The label on your amplifier states 4 ohms MINIMUM impedance in Stereo mode, and 8 ohms MINIMUM Impedance in Bridged mode. Yeah, and I'm not even playing in bridge mode but stereo mode for a total of about 250W RMS per channel. Even in bridged mono mode, the designer will have incorporated some safety factor or headroom to allow for that. Most specs are with some safety factor in and the designer will not tell us that so that their products are reliable. Just to let you know, I have and still have a pair of bridged Electrocompaniet mono blocks at 150W RMS each. These were used to drive my then Maggie 3 with ribbon tweeters and planar mid and bass panels. The tweeter was around 2 to 3 ohms nominal and the planar panels were around 4 ohms nominal. The Electros survived that "harsh" condition and kaput not through being overdriven but thru bad shorting smoothing capacitors that cannot stand the heat within the amps and dried up. So it will be A-Ok. Also, for high power amps, American designers like to have protection circuits build in the amps. This monitors temperature and stability of the amp like dc, etc and will shutdown when there is trouble in this area. So most current American amps that are build like a Krell can be said to be bullet proof. That's it and time to go home for some "mischiefs". Neighbours watch out!

Uriah Heep - 'Very 'Eavy, Very 'Umble'. The first track is based on virtually one chord. But as the packet says.... Very 'Eavy. Not sure when it came out .... some time in the 70's. The dramatic wide vibrato on the voices is very funny. (The voice wobbling, in this case, very wide) Believe it or not, they are still performing live!! Ian
