Hi does anybody know if it is possible to change the DAC part of the V8 ??

Because I do not think that the DAC in V8 is as good, as my zero but I would like it to bee then I can save some power abd sell my zero..
Now I use my zero to feed my v8 and I would love to just hook up the v8 by USB..

Nah I really did not give the v8 a fair chance, the Zero is burned in but I am not that sure about the v8, but I will do that in the next week or so and see if it helps..
Do you have an estimate of how many hours it need ??

I have burned it in for at least 200 hours and still think that the DAC is inferior to my Zero, so I need to keep both, because I just love the amp-section so much it almost hurt...

Hi there, Mode it with better parts and the sound of the X-Dac will go up. Of course, you cannot replace the 1792 0r 3 dac chip as the circuit is already designed for that. PS yes, filtering caps yes, tubes yes, cables yes, op amps yes, screening yes, diodes yes, clock yes, regulators yes, etc. As you can see there are many things you can do to the X-Dac.  |

That is going to be pretty hard for me, I have more than 10 thumps, I was just hoping that I could replace a chip or something, like I did in my Zero (Hdam earth, moon and sun, I tried all 3)...
But I have seen myself ordering a new PSU and those tubes from Mikes (not so) secret stash..
So now I just wait for a mail so I can pay and then it is all up to the postmen *sigh* hope the wait wont be to long, well a day is to long when waiting for head-fi gear, maybe I schould invent a teleporter.......
