This is an X-CAN v-1 with a X-PSU.
For years I had a short in the power cable jack in the back of the X-CAN. I'd have to wiggle it till the light came on and then brace it and not move it. Then one day I got smart and opened the can and found the loose connection and put a little new solder on it and it worked fine for a year or so.
Then it got loose again so I said - I'll just re-solder it. So I opened it up again but this time I forgot that I had to be careful about the little wires that connect to the LED in the front and one became disconnected from the LED itself. DANG! Oh well I said - if I fix the loose power jack connection I should be okay - I just won't have an LED. I did this - BUT - no sound.
I'm thinking that for some reason that LED has to be connected but I'm at a loss on how to do it. It can't be simply soldered back because the back of the LED sits too far down in a well in the front plate.
QUESTIONS?
Is it true that the LED must be connected for the unit to work?
Is there some trick to getting the LED out of the plate without breaking it. If not - how could I get another LED - what are the specs on the one that's in there?

You have to distroy it ... to completely remove it and then to replace the LED with the new one. You need 5 mm in diameter red LED. The easiest way to order one is to write a mail to Pink Floyd ... Then you have to glue it back in the hole and to solder it to the PCB ...

A: the LED is not needed and the X-Can will work with it not connected.
B: the LED is easy to remove from the front panel.... place the front panel face down on a wodden chopping board and then press down hard on it, this should "pop" the LED out of the hole..... if not then whack the face plate onto the chopping board.... don't worry you wont damage the faceplate as long as you use the wooden chopping board.
C: the DC socket could be dodgy you may need to replace it with a new one.
I sell the DC sockets and also the LEDS.... you can have a purple LED assembly or a blue LED assembly..... I can make you up a red one if you want to keep it red.
