... just when I finished downloading my latest purchase from Linn Records. It now produces mainly hum (of mains frequency) plus some faint and very distorted remnants of music. I'm assuming that one of the PSU diodes is shot, however this doesn't normally happen just like that, does it? If it is a diode then that's probably a follow-on effect of some other failure somewhere else. Having no schematic and feeling rather depressed right now I'm not game to trace the issue, only to find that all the ICs are dead, or something similar... However, if this is a known, common and fixable fault I'd love to hear about it, of course! To cheer myself up I had a look at those Taiwanese Zero DACs that are cheap and plentiful on eBay. Has anyone got any first-hand experience with those? Cheers Steffen. EDIT: I meant to say Chinese, not Taiwanese. I must have been thinking of the MHDT Havana, which I also had a look at...
