Awesome!
BTW, currently listening to the V2 w/ X10-D combo and all I have to say is AMAZING! The combo is so involving and engaging that makes you want to continue listening way past my bedtime. I need to spend more time with the "Original X-Can" specially with different op-amps to see if I can find the right (for me) sound.
Cheers.

The Special Edition Pinkie has to sound better than the standard Pinkie otherwise there's no point going for it. The "Special Edition" Pinkie could very well become the new "standard" Pinkie.... evolution keeps evolving. Miguel, I hope to have the first "Little Pinkie SE" on your doorstep in a few weeks... let me know what you think of it...... To my ears, the SE is the ULTIMATE psu you can power your X-Ponent with..... the icing on the cake. Price will be around £149 GBP and will come with a TEN year guarantee. I have already selected the switch for the front panel More details to follow.

By the way... the "SE" will be the deluxe version of the Little Pinkie V3 i and the V3 i will continue to be produced. That's the plan anyway Let's see how the "SE" version compares with the V3 i in the sonic dept. On "paper" it should sound better but we don't listen to paper... we use our "ears"..... More on this as it evolves. Mike.

This image is purely an "idea" of the under the bonnet aspect of the Pinkie SE and is not representitive of the ACTUAL design (ie: don't wire one up as per the photo )...... This is a "model" of the Pinkie SE for the X-CANS / X-CAN V2 (the most basic power supply in the Pinkie range) The "red" 2.1mm DC plug is the very expensive "switchcraft" type (Made in USA) and the IEC inlet is a 24K, gold plated, Iego type. "Belt and braces" ferrite rings are fitted on the output leads (five of them per side).

So your plan is to offer both the V3i and a V3iSE? If so that is a good idea in that the customer would have two price points to choose from.
On a related issue, could the Little Pinkie be offered as a 5VDC and 12VDC? I mean have both outputs that are either active or the user chooses which one to use? I say this because they are two very popular voltages and many would welcome a high quality regulated PSU.

That blue led looks very nice :-) Which means I now got the V3o (as in obsolete).

I say this because they are two very popular voltages and many would welcome a high quality regulated PSU. Hi Miguel, I have ZERO plans to stop making the Little Pinkie V3i. It is getting better feedback than ever and is spot on in the sonic and "price" dept. I have been asked by a few people if I can make one with gold plated connectors, wonder solder, toroidal transformer etc. etc. and have always said "No", as I see no need for this type of garnish,.... it all adds to the price and does it make a noticeable improvement? To my ears no but others may think differently. This is why I am sending you a prototype of the "SE" Pinkie so you can compare it directly to the pinkie V3i.... I want your honest opinion on the SQ (and I know you'll provide that) which is why I am sending you one to evaluate. I have no plans of hiking the price up by £40 and discontinuing the V3i..... I just thought that the "SE" may be a good idea for those who insist on a toroidal transformer and all the associated garnish Physically, it may appear a bit different but sonically I doubt there is much in it..... I'll let your ears be the first judge The new enclosures are being VERY well received (V3i grey ones) and I quote a few recent comments: "The pics on your site don't do this any justice" "Much much nicer looking than I expected" "I couldn't believe it when I opened the package I was expecting something a lot smaller, this is phenomenal!" Unfortunately my camera seems to snap everything out of focus or it decides to throw a fit unless the lighting conditions are absolutely perfect.... also factor in the "photographer" Anyways.... I'll ship your evaluation Pinkie SE on Tuesday Miguel.... here are, yet again, a few pics which really don't do it any justice..... I tried my best

Darn nice pictures mate, you sure live in a very nice place. I am looking forward to trying the new version. Hi Miguel, Shipped a prototype to you last week, you should receive it shortly. I am still in the process of finalising the SE version of the Pinkie... I may drop the fixed lead output for this version and go back to using a removable output lead so that people can "roll" in aftermarket cables if they so wish. If so, the back end would look something like this: IeGo 24K gold plated IEC socket, Deltron 650 pro series chassis mount DIN socket and CamdenBoss 20mm fuse holder. Quite an expensive back end using the very best of parts.... the Deltron 650 DIN socket is made in the UK and sports silver plated contacts and an anti - rotational locating spigot... the body is Nickel plated brass. The IeGo IEC socket is 24K gold plated so the perfect receptacle for those users who choose to fit expensive mains leads. The hook up lead consists of Evolution Pro (Oxygen free / British made) cable and is terminated at both ends with British made Deltron 610 pro series DIN plugs which boast a fully screened nickel - plated zinc housing. The contacts are silver plated brass. There should be no need (or reason) to replace these cables but some people do insist on wasting money At least, with the SE version of the Pinkie, they will have the choice. Deltron 610 Pro connected to the Deltron 650 Pro socket: On the inside of the back end there is a 275V EPCOS varistor and a class X2 suppression cap... belt and braces..... again, top quality parts and everything soldered with Warton metals (British made) "Future" solder which is 2% silver loaded: The toroidal is custom wound in Oxfordshire (UK) using the finest of materials. It is not an "off the shelf" type and has been produced to exacting standards to perfectly compliment the X-series of components, it has also been wound to be a perfect fit inside the enclosure: I have been experimenting with switch "colours" and have decided to go with a green illuminated switch. Blue was too "common" looking, red was too industrious looking..... green just looks classy when the lights are dimmed (green = "go") The switch itself is made by SCI. It sports silver plated brass solder terminals and the frame is rated at UL 94V-2. They have a nice action to them and, IMO, look very snazzy (especially when illuminated). It is taking shape and should be ready to roll by the end of the year. There is enough room under the hood (just) to fit one of my V-boards so a DC version of the Special Edition Pinkie will also be available. The SE will run alongside to the Pinkie V3i and will be the "luxury" version of the V3i. Both handmade (by myself) from the ground up using home grown (UK manufactured) parts where possible... the SE does the same job as the V3i, does it sound better? I'll let your ears be the judge Miguel will be auditioning the first SE and Elysion (Christian) will be auditioning the second. If there are any of you who own a V3i and would like to audition the "SE" version please express your interest here and I'll see what I can do. Pinkie. Evolution, not "revolution" is the way to proceed.

Not in the U.K. it aint ! You guys need to get rid of those politicians that are bleeding the U.K. dry with extremely high taxes, as well as Import Duties.. As an example. Australian GST is 10%, what is it now in the U.K. ? Our petrol costs just over half of what you pay. There appears to be no excuse for that in the U.K. which is far more compact. Alex
P.S. Nice pictorial Mike ! First class components too.

Alex, The UK is totally ruined, both culturally and economically, we are skint and lazy... the "British Empire" is now a curry house... sad times but a few of us still fly the flag. Mike.

Mike and Alex, It's not just the UK. Most of Europe has similar problems, economically speaking Spain makes the UK look healthy! We are also taxed to death here, Spain is also excellent at biting the hand that feeds, showing blatent racism by applying higher levies or inventing new ones especially for the foreign businesses, and not giving grants or paid for (by social security payments) services that we otherwise fully qualify for. Total bar-stewards! Anyway, like the new look pinkie and personally like the use of the toroid, no buzz

I really like the set of instructions that accompany the unit. I wish only people with an IQ over 100 (normal) could be allowed to operate any kind of equipment (electrical or mechanical). Cheers Mike it is a beautiful unit and it even feels heavier!

Cheers Mike it is a beautiful unit and it even feels heavier! The toroid actually shaves 70g off the weight so it should be lighter than the V3i? Mike.
