I have the PX200 (closed & folding) which I also paid more than the Amazon listing for. I use mine when travelling, especially if long haul. They are plenty good enough for this use. NO MERTON, I don't want to wear the DT770s on the 'plane

i wasn't going to say anything. but they are a fine choice. The above,KOSS Porta Pro,KOSS Sportapros-about as good as it gets in fast and light straight out of a portable player jack-all just a tad fat st the bottom,a plus that precludes the use of those AWFUL bass boost buttons that only give you a headache while eating up your batteries, and maybe just a little bit of upper end emphasis, also a good thing with most portable players that can use a bit of help here. With an amp ? NOPE. If your gonna spend the green for an amp you may as well shoot right to a true domestic hi-fi headphone because obviously you take your "music to go" more seriously than I do and if you are going the "overkill" route why stop at the amp ?

Prompted by your OP I bought a set of Sennheiser CX500 for £18.99 on the bay. I only use in ear 'phones for my personal DAB radio and thought they'd be worth a punt at this price. I paid the full purchase price for a set of CX100s, more than twice the price of the Ebay CX500s from my friendly local audio shop as a gesture of support to a local retailer who's overheads include the price of a great cup of cappuccino or espresso for sometime customers who drift by. I don't really need these CX500s but they get quite good reviews here and there and at this price I may have got a bargain if they're kosher. Not in the least comparable to the DT770s of course but adequate for those of us with less refined tastes and hearing.
