how fussy are you guys about your computer speakers and what do you use, was looking at buying the Logitec z-230's for my 11 year old to use (and myself)

Don't have any at all as I seldom listen to music on the computer (read "never") The Boynq vase speaker looks good, may well get one just to hear the buzzes and pops the computer makes ;D

I primarily use my headphones, then my Eltax Liberty 3+s, Liberty Centre ans HR-2 Bipolar (computer running through AV receiver), finally resorting to Apple Pro speakers if I'm away from home with my computer and need to listen "out loud". The Apple pro speakers are surprisingly good for 1 1/2" drivers in a sealed "cabinet", and are really convenient because they run off a PowerMac G4's internal amplifier and therefore don't need power adapters etc. Unfortunately they don't work on a PC because of the bespoke connection and lack of integrated amplifier.
You could look at things like the JBL Creature II set, or anything by Harmon Kardon. The Apple Soundsticks and iSub are rather good, but expensive, and I don't know if there are drivers to use them on a PC or not (they work as a USB audio device rather than simply being plugged into your speaker output.).
I'd certainly recommend getting a 2.1 setup, rather than two small all-in-ones in stereo, for the sake of sound quality.
Good luck choosing!

today looked at the JBL 2.1's ok at $115 NZ, The logitec x-230's $120 - but didnt hear, the Bose companion 2's - at $250 - sounded really nice for a pair of speakers and the bose companion 3 at $550 - way above my budget sounded good and included a sub.
I think I liked the bose companion 2's best... I'm not sure which way to go, most computer speakers are junky. However the bose was good, but I would hardly use them as I mainly write in forums such as this, maybe my son would enjoy and could use his computer in his room for CD, MP3, DVD watching !!!
