I´m a total novice when it comes to computers och getting sound out of them, besides normal audio out of soundcards.
Searched the net for info about digital( USB etc) out but I have not found any articles on my low level of understanding.
Can anyone link a primer on the subject?

tnx mrarroyo, I am googling the things and names you mentioned right now , will take some time to sort all info. Rather sure I want the computer to connect to my stereo-system rather than having a dedicated computer-amp, so I look in to that first. Be back when I'm on to something.  |

Still browsing,,,there's a lot of reading to be done,,,,,starting on a new area of interest is getting flooded with a lot of info one haven't got enough knowledge to sort.
First thing I need is a better way to sort links than Explorers Favorites.

Hi Aman, start by trying Opera instead of that Devils work known as Intermittent Exploder - it has a nice builtin search box - can be customised a hundred ways, has a great notepad feature where you can copy snippets from web pages and with a right click you can open a link in a new tab keeping the original still open but without having a dozen or more windows open all at once.
After that it is a pretty big field as Miguel has indicated and depends a lot on what you want to do:
do you just want to play audio off the net through your stereo?
do you want to store music on your PC and play it through your stereo?
do you want to be able to put your music into a portable player?
how good quality do you want? (of sound)
do you want to play online games and have BIG sound with it?
Maybe think about the answers to some of these questions before worrying about the nuts and bolts like USB, SPDIF, etc.

I'm looking in to Opera now, seems to be somewhat more structured-tnx for pointing me in that direction !! About what I want to do: Wel, like most people I want it all  ,,,, but I'm starting to understand what the different pieces do,, so soon I have it down on a shorter list |
