I have just received my copy of the latest Hi-Fi News here in the UK. Therein is an ad for a new range from MF - a 'V' series; similar to the X series, but in lower costs casings. No mention yet on MF's website. Don't have the ad. to hand but there is a V-Can, an LPS, plus a pre-amp IIRC. A link to some V-can publicity I found is here: www.avhub.com.au/NewsArticle...wsArticleID=903Derek

This might represent a truer price level for MF kit, given that even the X series and the ££££ top end stuff feature some horrid bargain basement parts. A couple of examples: The current Xray is stocked with Jamicons; one of their previous top end CD players( trivista/nusvista, somethingvista) has a £20 transport that can no longer be replaced, so there are customers out there that will see their player go from a resale value of £1000+ to £0 with a simple fault.
That VCans as an Aus$ price of $999, so a UK price of £455 and a manufacturer price received must be say £230. Anyone want to bet MF doesn't have less than £50 worth of electronics in that thing?

If the UK price turns out to be £455 then it's not a cheaper product at all when compared with the the X-CanV3 when it was on sale. Note from the illustration on that Aussie site that the pwer supply socket is simply labelled 12V DC. Should make it easy to upgrade. Derek
