I've noticed differences between different brands, as to what colour denotes left (red on my pioneer A400 amp/ white on the Cambridge Magidac) and what colour denotes right.
Is there an industry standard as to what they should be?
Also while we are at it, am I correct in thinking, when it comes to headphone jack plugs, tip is left, ring is right and sleeve ground?
Sorry for all the questions recently, but I'm still in info hoover mode!

Left is usually denoted by white or black, but right should always be red.
You are correct: left = tip, ring = right, sleeve = ground.
