I have use X-can v8 for a while. And like others, I found it is too bright, harsh to me. Actually I burn it about 150+ and just wonder how should I do next if the sharpness will not go down. The answer may be swapping tube but it's hard to find the information about changing the tube in v8 Anyone can tell me what tube is well made for v8? Is that the same tube for v3? More, I found that in www.rock-grotto.co.uk/x-can-v2-tube-rolling.htm looks like we just swapping only 1 tube right? the other tube in the picture is power tube we don't need to change? Last, In this page, www.mullardtubes.com/MullardPreampTubes.aspx which can be used with v8? There are many codes of them making me confused - -'' or they are the same at all but differently called in place? Thank you so much for helping me > <v

My X-can was burnt about 150-200 hours and also was my headphone. If you say that I'll wait til 300. My headphone is AD2000, my favorite headphone, and D5000 is coming within 3 days. and the source is foobar2000 --> X-can v8(built-in-dac) --> AD2000 Thank you very much for your recommendation. ^_^

I have a X-CANv8 and took one listen to the built in DAC and never bothered with it again, I thought it sounded dreadful.
The DAC in the X-CANv8 is for a better word "rank", why they even bothered putting it in the X-CANv8 is beyond me they could of made the amp less expensive without it.
I went and splashed £650 on a Stello DA100 Signature. £450 for the DAC, £50 for the shipping from korea, and £150 to those thieving bastards the UK customs.
But its a fantastic sounding DAC with every possible connection under the sun, im using it via the USB input with Winamp and Kernel streaming.
My X-CANv8 has never sounded better.
There's one more thing I want if I can ever get Mr Pinkie to make me one is a Little Pinkie V3i PSU.
So Pinkfloyd if you read this please make me one.
