i am starting to think the bass is too big with this amp. this amp seems powerfull enough to really control the drivers.

My son has the DT770 and I have the AKG701. My son prefers the DT770 for mixing and editing. I don't like them for anything. The instruments do not sound like what I get on stage. Everything seems bigger than life. Perfect for audiophiles that have never been to a live concert - more space between instruments and bigger soundstage than is possible in real life.
The 701s are the closest to real that I have ever heard. They were bass shy for the first couple of months in spite of break-in white noise the whole time. Now they have settled down and I am missing nothing.
