Hello all, please forgive a new guys' dumb mistakes but... My original stock valves went all hissy on me in an X-Can V2. So I trawled the ???bay looking for a new set. I'd read the valve tasting test on this great site , but was swayed by some nice rockets at a silly cheap price. So... The ???bay dude said in the listing they're good for replacing ecc88's so I went for them 6N1P-EB (cool rocket symbol on 'em). stuck 'em in plugged it in good for an hour then, nothing little red light goes out. I check the transformer, it's dead. No problem, I assume the wires have broken use it as a excuse to get a new one. I buy a new 1 amp wall wart (same as the one in the "good and cheap ... PSU" page on the site). Plays for an hour then nothing . What's happening?

6N1P is NOT recommended for X-CANS / X-Can v2, they require double the heater current of the 6922 / E88CC and make your wallwart run as hot as fck'.... "That's" what's happening! Lose the 6N1P and fit some 6922 variants and all will be fine.

Oh So is it not a good idea just to get a better transformer?
