Will the "Little Pinkie v3i" increase the power and drive of the v8 - sorta like a "turbo-charger?"
I'd like it to drive Senns as well as the 25 ohm D5000s, and at lower POT levels.
I suppose that's way too much to ask of a PSU.
But... if it doesn't - the v8's "a bust" with the Senns.

However I am still getting the Little Pinkie, but that's because of the expected improvement in sound quality.

I think the OP must have received a slightly defective v8.... I haven't had a chance to listen to one myself yet but the majority of people wo have seem to be over the moon with it and certainly no complaints about lack of drive with ANY headphones. Quite a few guys are using the pinkie with the v8 and have sent very positive feedback

Long time no speak.
Something must be wrong at my end. I got the x-can v8 running via a lilttlie pinkie v3i(maybe its the pinkie which is bust?). I got AKG K-701.
On X-can V3 with AKG K-701 I had tons of volume around 12 o clock.
On X-can v8 with same headphones I must turn volume to 3o clock to have satifishfying volume. What the hell is that, I saw that somebody else also complained about that same problem?!
Anyone know anything.... btw, Mike, why no X-can v8 review from you yet?
Kris
Any good tube upgrade advice for the x-can v8, Jan Sylviania maybe?

Yeah... I returned it for another unit from another retailer. Second one... has similar issues... but has a little more power / volume - still not equal to yours, however. Think I'll return it also... and... maybe try another one. The sound is great with both low Z and hi Z phones - just needs more power with Senns. Also - we should always cite our source and whether were in a 120 v or 240 v country. I'm suspicious that the 240 v units have more power output, than the 120 v units - and that may be the explanation.

Mike, Are you still lined up to obtain / buy / borrow / open the bonnet of / a V8 version yet? I'm sure a lot of us are dying to hear what you think of it in all respects, especially in comparison to the previous versions. Sadly the price in Australia is near insane - I was never going to pay $900 for a headphone amplifier no matter how incredible it was when the older V3 can be bought for a little over half of that. But if the Musical Fidelity PR is correct then it will make all previous versions sound like near-death CMoys running on near dead batteries

Yeah...
We'd like to know... if... there's any solution to its poor performance with Senns and high impedance phones? There's surely something that can be done?
It's so great with Denons and other low impedance phones - its a real shame it can't drive Senns. It would be "one of the World's best amps" if it could.
