Sennheiser PX-100s. www.sennheiser.co.uk/uk/icm.nsf/root/05206Possibly the best headphone bargain ever. Available at Play.com for £17.99 shipped. www.play.com/Electronics/Electronics/4-/587384/Sennheiser-PX-100-Mini-Headphones-Black/Product.htmlA really nice sound from such a small pair of headphones. Capable of producing a half decent soundstage when amped these little cans really do sound like something MUCH bigger. OK We're not talking top end gear but they are worth easily twice if not three times the asking price IMHO. The detail is a little lacking on the high frequencies. Over all the sound is quite warm with an obvious bass hump but it's delivered so well that the end result is a fun can that really does get your foot taping. Don't take my word on it read some reviews. I won't bother linking some. Just google px-100 review and read a few. £17.99 ... go on, treat yourself. EDIT: I should have mentioned these are a portable solution and high end amps will reveal their limitations.

I have a pair of these & I love them. I find they sound better out of my cheapo Sony CD Walkman than they do out of the green Solo.

I find my Solo reveals their limitations but through my CMoy and even unamped they sound great. I do find that with the CMoy the soundstage is vastly impoved over stock headphone outs on my portable gear (Panasonic portable CD and Cowon MP3 player.) The same goes for various ipods that I've tried my CMoy on. Maybe I should have clarified that these are a portable solution (although they can put many full size budget cans to shame) . In fact I'll go edit the 1st post to that effect in a min.

Does no one else have thoughts on these great little cans? cough. Mike.. cough! Edit: It's lunchtime and I'm listening to a 320kbps MP3 rip of Ian Dury Live through the PX-100s, CMoy and my Panasonic SL-MP35. Fantastic sound stage, Excellent bass and mid tones and a passable high end. Amazing value cans. When my colleagues listen to this rig their jaws drop I'm head banging to Sweet Gene Vincent. Love it! I'm just going to try my Amadana PE-117s and see if they are as much fun as the PX-100s. Stay tuned OK after the usual 10 minute battle with getting a good seal on the Amadanas I'm now listening on my PE-117s. A much more neutral and accurate sound than the PX-100s. However the sound stage is not as good although this could be because they aren't broken in enough despite the fact I've owned them for 6 months. They are just too much bother. Uncomfortable until you finally get a good seal on them. With the PX-100s I just slap them on my head and a fun time is had. Definitely more fun than the Amadana PE-117s which are listed at Audiocubes for £76.52 as I write.

Fantastic little 'phones! One of the best audio bargains out there IMO..... you can pick them up for as little as £10 on ebay and, wow, they deliver seriously good sonics... don't let their diminutive size fool you they can pack one helluva punch Not a lot more to say really, everyone should own a pair.

I own a pair. ...but meprefers KSC75 : clearer sounding, not over accented mid & upper bass, same or even lower price range. Don't like much the clip-on-ear wear style though - PX100 classic over-the-head solution is much more practical. Just my 0.02 €... ;D Have no intention to spoil your admiration thread - PX100 still is a good portable option.

The Koss KSC-35 or the Portapros are very good as well. I have the Rat Shack "Re-Branded" version, the Optimus PRO-25 and I like them so much I bought a back up pair just before they were discontinued (discounted plus the wife managed the store at the time so got another discount, bottome line paid $5 ).a great grab and go or home theater can (don't get hot on the ears over extended periods and have some bass boost so PERFECT for movies) but if for some reason I lost or broke both pairs i would go straight to the PX-100 as the replacement. truly a bargain being way better than they should be for the price though not exactly showcase material so I doubt you see too many pairs hanging off a high end equipment rack even though wouldn't be TOO out of place sonically. a lot to be said for lightweight and cool over big ass heavy and hot
