They and their - bigger, more expensive and rare - brother the Sony Qualia 010 have the reputation of being the "fastest" dynamic phones out.

Grados are just punchy/peaky (don't hurt me Miguel!)
Well firstly they're pricy, and I just cut to the chase and go electrostatics
Although it's a good effort and as I said, reputedly one of the fastest dynamic, is nothing compared to electrostatics

The best I have heard to date. However at about $2,500 a set they better be. ;D

on that note I'm trying to acquire a Grado RS-2/Alessandro MS-2i but am having trouble since h43d-f1 is down
Also this one guy I've been dealing with is being a c_nt about it and increasing his original asking price at his leisure
his reason for this is because I quote "helping out head-fiers outside of the USA"
apologies in advance to americans, but bloody typical thinking that they're doing a favour to the rest of the world by ripping them off/invading/pillaging

Saw you were after the RS-2s the other day just before it went down - hadn't realised it was still broken until I read your post and checked. How embarrassment for them (and their NAS supplier I imagine). How much is he asking anyway ? - out of interest, I am not going to outbid you - I am more likely to splurge on W5000s

he wanted 350 + shipping, which was $30
now he wants no less than 400 for the trouble of sending it out of the USA
and he still reckons he's doing me a favour...

When I sold my RS-2 a couple of years ago I got $400, mine were mint. The RS-2 are a very nice sounding can and a bit darker than the RS-1. Overall I would say you get over 90% of the RS-1 sound at 30% off. Good luck.

In any case, he doesn't seem like a nice guy, always talking to me like it's a big deal for him to even think of dealing with someone out of USA and how I should be thanking him for sending him my money Were the bowls taped by chance? Just curious, something sounds familiar. No they weren't.

Yes I know, I am going straight to HELL. It's more the fact that he's selling something, trying to get me to give him money. And he gives me the impression that it's all a big hassle to take my money off me.

I lost a pair on ebay yesterday, they eventually went for £246!
Personally, I've never had the disposable income to be a pioneer in headphone culture. Others lead & I will follow. Put me down as a sheep! Now, if someone posts, I've heard the Sony's with the Slee & it's a match made in heaven, I'd probably take a bite.
I reckon there wouldn't be too much financial loss on buying a pair & flogging them on via ebay if they failed to live up to expectations though.

I'll have a look. I got a bit carried away yesterday & had a £241 bid already in place. Five seconds to go, then £246.
