Have they improved since you first got them? About how many hours do you have now?
I'm going to be getting a pair in the next few weeks, and I've heard all kinds of different break-in times.
Happy listening, Buelligan

Even though I am totally satisfied with my headphone stable, having zero compulsion to indulge in the "dog chases own tail then forgets why" disease of upgraditis I have a major attraction towards the 701 and know i will likely bust a move on a pair at some point. NOT becase of any back of the head tingly "I'm not quite satisfied with my present headphones" directive but purely based on the cosmetics sonics be damned ! Anyone that has read my posts over a period of time KNOWS I take delight in poking fun at the "looks good i bet it sounds good" crowd and that every chance I get making the above statement sorta kinda off the ranch or hypocrytical but no matter. In fact i would want to have a pair of those on display even if the drivers were missing and the reason is I make a connection with the "look" on a level just below concious decision where it is about emotional lock like a cetrain work of art grabs a person. If you have to analize art or explain it then the connection is a dead miss but if it grabs you by the nuts and and you get tunnel vision even from across the room it matters not what the "intent" of the pice is,the artist did his job by going straight past thought to causing a FEELING as any art worth a shit should. The 701 is art and it brings up thoughts having zero to do with the headphones because these cans draw abstracts in my head that took a while to flesh out and become "lucid" and when the thought pictures finally came into sharp edged focus that age old YES ! EXACTLY ! DAMN STRAIGHT ! ...feeling of triumph takes over because your formless images now have form and having form a name. That name ? HORSEPOWER ! The 701s remind me of a time when cars were all about pure artistic expression wrapped around axel twisting motor mount snapping head snapping kill power comfort be damned ! Sleek, sexy, civilised on the outside, pure beast under her knickers just like we all want our woman to be (very demure and lady like ,looking good showing off for the "wish they were you's"until you are alone with no where to be but there together for as long as you want without interuption....... PUT A HELMET ON THEN STRAP IN BITCH !gonna be a rough fkn ride and if you aren't up to it someone could get banged up in the wreck !check this out : removed-was stretching the page see a resemblence ? I do.Maybe not "literal" but has the same feel at the nuts level BTW-MOPAR man myself so this is more "Rick" though a bit too....hmmmmmm....too "candy store" in color preffering basic black and less chrome on these models my last MOPAR was this guy but with some of the chrome trim removed, painted Corvette White #5 looked closer to this after it got the "rick treatment" : Long tail tranny (727 Torqueflite),Sure Grip differential running a nice street/highway 410 ring and pinion,Shortened and balanced drive shaft,270 degree (I think, memory like a friggin seive lately ) fireball cam,Weind split plenum high rise intake manifold with a carter AFB sitting on top, high performance accel ignition,Heddman Headers with crossover pipe,no name low restrictio flow mufflers and a 3 inch diameter plumbing exhaust (no reducers here bubba just pure fire breathing dragon ) that exited out the sides just before the back tires ,340 heads strapped onto the 318 (same block ) and bfore all this "bolt on" performance the block was bored thirty over, the crank 20 under then the whole deal built from zero to everything with the final act while still on the engine stand being the Hemi Orange paint job on the block M/T street slicks on matte finish Centerline wheels,a new 12 inch steering wheel just because (big fkn mistake for cornering at speed ),tach and finally a sweet pioneer cassette deck with separate amp and the best FM section i have ever come across to this day, some Humble Pie "Smokin'" at beyond reasonable volume so EVERYBODY could enjoy my taste in jams ( ) waaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaa................................... Life was GOOD and being me was a fkn blast. If i could live it all again I would change NOTHING and that includes the bad shit 'cause it is the whole that makes the event not just the highlights even though my life was continuous highlight seemlessly blending from one scene to the next until i ran out of film waaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaa..........................errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr....waaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaa HOLD ON BABE ! ABOUT TO GET INTERESTING !

still "off topic" (sorry ) but "on" my topic (rat dog with a slipper syndrome ;D ) I never did like the fast back version of the '68 'cuda (because of all that glass back there maybe ?) as much as the much rarer "two door sedan" version which i had but there was a catch to the what I considered better styling and that was a wussy drive train that consisted of a very down power 318 with a two barrel carb,a girly differential,a "toy" transmission that was prone to detonate if you beefed the engine and a "Y" pipe very restrictive single pipe exaust that strangled any chance at letting the monster outta the V-8 because it is the exaust that gives you the dead stop to HOLD ON DAMMIT or "we be flying now" cruising at 80 to romp on the gas snap your neck instant 140 MPH throttle response (even though the old suspensions and tires were very "jittery" over 110 MPH ). If you wanted performance you had to either build it yourself (DIY ) or bounce to the Formula-S model but THAT meant fast back so not for me so instead I built a car for ME that was a perfect combination of daily driver corner to corner nimble yet clocked 160 MPH on the highway before i scared myself and backed off due to the car feeling "floaty" on me and not entirely under driver control. My buddy built his for quarter mile speeds so had his geared in the fives and had a six pack on the intake but drive around town ? highway driving ? NOT ! Straight lines for short distances or park it... another buddy built his as a highway monster and would whip my ass with ease in a head to head but back in town ? I OWNED HIS PUNK ASS ! Running highway gears in the upper two's means by the time he got up to speed i was already home sipping a cold beer so while he could beat me in the long straight runs he could not hang with me from a dead stop or on any corners. They built for a special purpose and because of that were locked in to that use or their hot rod was just another dog while mine was not GREAT at any one thing but one-driving the bitch under any and all consitions while getting from A to B as fast as i had the balls to take it and all the while with a stupid grin on my face 'cause MY car was FUN to drive plus it looked great, sounded even better, did not beat the shit out of me on gas (*even though only around 40 cents a gallong for 120 octane LEADED BABY ) and i could actually pick up a date in it then GO somwhere without constantly downshifting or being smoked by wanna bees at red lights Back on topic : So i kind of get the impression the 701 is a lot like the old muscle cars.Low key class and style on the outside, pure fkn mean under the hood and think i may be gettin' me a pair eventually....just because

Well, I"ve driven the 'Vette although in 'every day use' condition meaning it was not mint with original red/white paint and I did preferr the black steel rims w/o the shiny hubcaps. 'These' pickups and various muscle cars we have tried and abused as well Have a look here www.konfederateklassiks.de look under PROJECTS and don't miss the Holy Guacamole he used doing the Rally Panamericana in Mexico with. The rest of the 'drivables' are in the PRODUCTS category.... YES he sells and rents parts of planes as well. Mostly DC2 and 3 and old MIG stuff. I"ve driven the TBird that is the same year and model they used in American Graffity (however you write this) that was sourced through the place above and was a wedding gift of a friend of mine to his wife. Neither of them really did it for me. As for the E Types I tried to drive the V12 coupe and a 6Cyl Convertible but couldn't fit in either really good. The V12 XJSs worked out fine ;-) A friend of ours who provided workshop space and plenty of advise for my projects was buying Jags from the mid 60s on. Stored them and rebuild them when he had time... All but one finished now. If I ever will be back in old Europe I will go for one of these: www.caterham.co.uk . The wide body one of course since I am not a) 20 years of age anymore and expect at least some comfort b) not going onto a racetrack anyway. As for the can resebmlance I do not want one that has properties related in any way related to these rough Lotus7 derivates Stefan

Sounds the LT1010 buffer better than BUF634T?
I had seen that the LT1010 buffer can easy work in parallel.
I want use LT1010 or BUF634T as railsplitter but with two 100 ... 470 uF (to +V and -V) caps on output - with a TL2426 to divide

These have been burning in for almost 50 hrs now and there is a clear difference. I would not contemplate listening to them much streight from the box, they will be lush and lack bass. The lushness has gone and the bottom end is begining to kick in nicely. I expect they will improve more.

Last weeks I had no time for burning in (I must work for the new house for my doughter), sometimes I heared only music with the K701, but they did not sound bad without burning in - better than my senn HD600. I think about to use the K701 for TV - so I had both "burning in" and "listen TV" too

After some time of abstinence of Sennheiser HD 600 - I listen with my both - Sennheiser HD 600 and AKG K701 - and compare them. Both are running hot before on green Solo. Amp - green Solo Music - Roger Waters "Amused to Death" Some tracks from "Amused to Death" are "dark music" and this effect's coming better with HD600. HD600 accents the low and upper low frequencies more than K701. At the upper of high frequencies the HD600 accents the "tssss" of the brass more - like "white noise" vs. "pink noise" (K701). The K701 have a -22db dell at 12khz - the HD600 only -10db [a href="http://graphs.headphone.com/graphCompare.php?graphType=0&graphID[]=249&graphID[]=549&graphID[]=255"]http://graphs.headphone.com/graphCompare.php?graphType=0&graphID[]=249&graphID[]=549&graphID[]=255[/a] (please cut and paste complete url) This differences are only nuances. Generally the K701 like more a "electrostatic headphone".

And then the bump from 5k-10khz in the k701 I would think the k701 would be brighter, does the -12 bd deference at 12khz even that out? Just trying to get some ideas on how to use these graphs to compare different headphones realizing, as it proves, they dont tell the "real" story.

Rick, I had a 69 'cuda 340 fastback, the first year they offered the 'cuda package. Warmed over engine and tranny with 3.90 gears, ran 13 flat in the quarter. What a fun ride that was. Pink, sweet series 3 Etpe V-12. Always wanted one of those. Lot of problems wit the fuel injection on those but nothing a littel care a time wont fix Nice series 2 also.

charleyphogg wroteI reckon the bump from 5k-10khz in the k701 disguise the bass and let the k701 look like brighter. The dell about 12khz accents the "tssss" of the brass more - like a bit more "pink noise" (K701) vs. "white noise" (HD600). I had seen the graphs after hearing test and would see what the technical say's about. I know that the graphs are not the trueness if I have the headphone on my head - this true graphs are different and not really measure

Very cool and yes,"fun" is the best descriptive.Something about small and nimble with head snapping power gets me like no big block ever will even though it would blow the doors off my 'corner to corner daily driver".Alas my "hot rodding" days have long passed with these days a Jeep Wagoneer or a good solid 8Ft.Bed truck giving me the "woody" i once got over the rumble of a well tuned V-8 and nice wheels. Growing up sucks

One come into my head - the impedance from the HD600 rise at lower frequencies from 300 ohm to 600 ohm, with the 50 ohm in series (I remember Graham use 50 ohm in green Solo) the bass increase a bit.
From the K701 I dont found a impedance grahp
