What interconnect do you guys use/recommend between the X-Can v3 and X-dac v3?
I got both those 2 driving a pair of AKG K-701's... The sound is not as silky and smooth anymore, as it was with my £50 generic dvd player! I said it before on a different thread, but the sound quality of playing the Miles Davis cd, is just very bad on the x-dac v3, this is not something you need golden ears to hear; its a big differ.
Anyways, will it 'fix my problems' by chaning my Nordost Solarwind copper/silver blend interconnect, with a fat, pure copper interconnect? Will that smooth out the sound?
Or is it that AKG with x-dac v3 / x -can just is too bright? I didn't have this problem before I got this x-dac though...
Any comments?

If the combo is to bright then I would suggest copper only as far as the interconnect goes. Anything with silver in it will tend to enhance upper frequencies, not good if you have a system thats to bright. Try isolating your gear more efficiently on cones or bearings. Never sit one component on top of another. The other thing to consider is tweaking your DAC.

Hi Krisno, Try tweaking the dac as Alex, me and others had done here. For a smoother sound sound try replacing the op amps with BB 2134. Wonderful for vocal, classical and some jazz as well as for smoother sound. Also, as what Aurum had said, if you are using silver ICs, use a copper one will be better. I prefer OCC copper over silver version. Hope this helps.

Thanks guys!
But i used the same silver/copper blend interconnects drom the generic £50 dvd player. It then sounded not so harsh, but its detailed, though difference is not like night and day between the two.
Will a copper interconnect really help on this, I mean, I thought tubes automaticly would be the 'weak link' and therefor make the sound nice and 'soft' no matter what interconnect.
Where can I get a good interconnect, cheap?
Will there be any difference to switch from optical to RCA? (I can't do that until change computer though)....
and will it make any difference in sound if one gets an EXPENSIVE digital cable, vs a cheap one? I mean, any at all?
(Btw i dont hear much difference on signal cables).... I tried some very cheap copper, didnt notice much difference.

I have listened to it some more, it doesn't seem to harsh anyways. I will keep the Nordost Solarwind interconnect cables, they are expensive.
I will get a littlie pinkie for this XDAC v3 also some day, I got one ofr the X-can v3. Or what you think? Is it really worth it?
Some people say its big difference on the dac with the PSU(All the review'ers), but others private persons say they hear no difference.
Any thoughts?
Kristian
P.S. I bought this xdac used from ebay, supposed to be have bought in august, but the damn screws are not polished like my brand new x-can v3. Has there been a series change on the x-dac? I got the serial number, how can i find out the age of this thing??
THANKS FOR ALL!!!!!

Better bass (the most noticebale), wider and deeper soundstage, better imaging and you can hear the singer in the recording space. If a high Va trans lesser noise and almost cool running as well. Everything you need for better Hifi literally. Don't worry about the internal parts if you had got the dac for a good price since you are going to mode it anyway, right? As long as it's working, that will be find. As you mode, the dac sound will be going to be different from what you are hearing now. It will evolve pass your expectation.

So, even if i do NOT mod the X-dac (I have no plan to do this), it will be greatly enhanced with a better PSU? You don't need golden ears to hear this?

I'm not too sure of the Pinkie as I have not heard one but that is 30VA, btw. I will leave that to others who have that to comment. There is a thread on this here, btw. For the modding fun, except the trans as high voltage here, you just need to have some basic soldering skills thru some simple practice. It's really not that difficult even to some oldsters starting afresh here. I hope the oldsters doing this can come out to comment on this. ;D Hopes this helps.
