I have just modified my X-pre. One of the voltage regulators looked a bit dodgy and I want to change it, however I am unsure of the values to use. The regulators are marked as follows. Reg1 - AN7815 .893(the manufacturers logo is M, surrounded by broken border) & Reg2 - AN7915T .984 Can anyone give me product codes or values to replace both regulators. I will be buying from RS or Maplins. Help much appreciated. Jezza

jezza Just check the voltage regulator area of their site and look for 7815 and 7915. Same thing, different makes. SandyK

Jezza Do you have any electronic's retailers nearby ? All electronics retailers will stock them. In Australia they are only around AU$1.20 each !

Thanks chaps. I have sourced the regulators. The 7815 is 15v / 1amp positive and the 7195 is 15v / 0.5amp negative. Just one more question - I have also modded my X-cans. When I completed the mods on the X-pre I tested it by connecting my X-cans to the X-pre. It sounded better than just having the X-cans connected from X-ray. Has anyone else tried this set up or was I just imagining the difference?

"the 7195 is 15v / 0.5amp negative." Jezza Typed in a hurry ?The 7915 is -15V 1A. It is not unusual for this to happen with a good preamp. SandyK

Are you sure the AN7915T is -15v 1amp. If you look at us.100y.com.tw/ChanPin.asp?MNo=22437It states the AN7915T is -15v / 0.5Amp Have I got it wrong, I'm no expert in electronics all the mods I have done, I have got the info from rock grotto and just gone for it with my soldering iron. Jezza

jezza The AN7915 may very well be only rated at .5A The normal 7915 is rated at 1A and is just a higher power version.(bigger case) There may have been difficulty obtaining the AN7915, whereas the 1A versions are very common. If you are able to obtain the AN7915 , then use it instead to keep the preamp in original state. The normal 7815/7915 would get you out of trouble. SandyK
