I posted on here earlier and got some very sound advice concerning my X-CAN V3.
I have now decided to really enjoy the sound of the amp I need to purchase some Mullard E88CC valves, the stock valves are killing my ears with shrill.
Is there anywhere in london that I could possibly get these valves.
How many valves do I need to replace the stock valves with and what tool do I need to open the amp up.
Many thanks.

Mullards! you'll be lucky finding any of those, if you do I hope your wallet can handle it ;D The Reflector 6H23N-EB are nice toobz, Mike may have some left he can sell you
If your set on Mullards then ebay may be the only place, also make sure they are tested ok if buying off ebay!!

To open the amp up you will need an allen key (Hex) and a philips screwdriver.... you'll get a set of allen keys for under a quid in those 99p shops. You can get hold of so called "Mullard E88CC" easily on ebay but you can't be so sure of their origin. Are they genuine, are they used, are they indeed "working"? Some people's idea of new old stock may be "pulled from redundant equipment but measure ok" I wouldn't touch these with a bargepole. I don't care how good they measure, if they're not 100% unused I don't want them / period. A good reliable source is Edicron www.edicron.com/ but they have become so expensive I tend not to go with Mullards these days..... they're good but not THAT good, you will get similar / better results with other valves that are known to be 100% unused.... these things (valves) shift after mere hours in value no way am I going to buy a pair that "test ok" that's like saying my car tyres with 0.5mm of tread are "ok" in the rain, they do the job........ they do a BAD job compared with a new tire and are on their last legs. The best valves (IMO) for the v3 are the 6H23N-EB (EV) see here: rockgrotto.proboards39.com/index.cgi?board=q&action=display&thread=1182955042 I don't sell them anymore, have decided to stash the remaining pairs I have for a rainy day, doubtful you will ever find a pair in factory fresh / genuine NOS cartons but this is the type of thing you're looking for. "measures good" equates to "used but still working" avoid like the plague. The stock 6922 in the v3 are bloody decent, my advice is to take that puppy back to the dealer and ask for another v3..... it's "100%" a valve thing (ie: the valves in your v3 are iffy) get your arse over to the dealer AM. Feel free to refer to this thread. P
