It would be interesting to see what everyone has (or has had) I currently have one of each (X-CANS, X-CAN v2 and X-CAN v3) I think I prefer the shape and size of the X-CANS and v2 over the larger square v3.
What version do you have?...................

Hi All,
I own myself a X-Can V3 with a MF-PSU V3 and have done the "typical" mods as discussed and offered here.
Capacitor Upgrade ultrafast diode mod Heatsinks Hardwired chassis mount gold plated phono sockets
I do experiment with the following valves: MF-Stock 6N1P -EB 6H23N-EB
The next stage is to look into bypass caps. But I have to do some learning on that toppic before. Also I like to play with tube rings and felt pads.
Cheers

I have the X-CANv3 with the supplied plug- in transformer and it sounds great just the way it is. However, I think that better caps would be a good thing so might tackle this in the new year.
Also have an X-DACv3, again with the original transformer. I love it; wouldn't modify this in anywayas am not competant enough with electronics to rsik messing with anything as expensive and complex.
I think you can put me 'on the list' for the new Pinkie. I am guessing that it would be an obvious upgrade for the X-CANv3 as there is some serious amplification to be done; not too bothered about one the X-DACv3 though. But obviously would try the Pinkie with both and see what effects it would have... and maybe end up having to buy 2!
Still using the X-CANv3 with my lovely Grado SR60's and it all sounds fantastic together: CD > X-DAC > X-CAN > SR60's.

I am using the x-can V3 modded by Pink Floyd. I was using the little pinke, until it blew, but will use the PLV3i when available. I still use my grago RS-1 cans - I know they are expensive but they sound fantastic.

I have a currently unmodded X-Can V2 used with Sennheiser HD25 headphones. It's used at work so I need closed back-phones and the HD25s were the first closed-back phones I got to (after working my way up the Sennheiser range pricewise) that really did it for me (ie sounded remotely like open-back cans) I also have a set of Grado SR60s but can't use them at work (open-back) and also find the foam pads uncomfortable - they're just too hard.

Cheers for the advice - do I remember correctly in thinking that there are two versions of the Grado pads - one hard and one soft ?

I know everyones preferences are different but how would you rate the 3 types of ear pads in order of comfort ? Having looked at the link you posted, my Grado pads seem different to the 3 types shown. Mine don't have a hole in the middle ?! Mine seem to be the Grado 'soft' pads ( obviously not soft enough ;D). ps Hooked up a Cyrus CD7 to my X-Can V2 last night. After a while to allow for warm up, it sounded great. Can't wait to get my V2 off to Scotland for some serious mods

I've got two V2's one fully modded a la pinkie and one repaired and fully modded with a more boutique theme with the caps. I prefer the one with the boutiques it's got a more dynamic sound. I use them both with a power supply from rock grotto. David

It won't be long now The replacement batch of transformers arrived today and your Little Pinkie v3i will be built tomorrow morning and will be winging it's way over to Minnesota on Thursday along with an X-Can v3 kit. Sorry about the delay, this has been one weird month with postal strikes and waiting for parts and stuff..... all is back to normal now Mike.

No rush Mike as I have business travel in Manitoba Canada all next week... Ipod and Grado time. Have you found any SQ gains from replacing the RCA inputs and/or the heaphone jack with higher quality pieces such as WBT?
