X-LPS Modding

Guys, I know this is the X-Can forum, but there are more X-LPS threads in here than anywhere else, so hopefully I'll be forgiven for asking questions here.
I had a curious look inside this beast and despite the high component count (compared to a Can v2), it looked as if it may be moddable. Lots of electrolytic caps, some brown and green lumps (polycarb?), some IN4001 diodes and 4 ICs. How hard can it be :-)
However, I have a couple of questions. My natural feeling is to upgrade the Jamicon caps to the Panasonic FM series but here I hit the first problem. I can't get all the right values at the right voltage. For example, C5 & C6 are Jamicon 35V 100uF, but there are no FM series 35V 100uF. However there are FM 50V 100uf and FC 35V 100uF....
After reading through this forum for my X-Can v2 upgrade, there seems to be two schools of thought (if I read correctly) - [1] increasing the voltage rating of the caps can have negative effects due to the increased differential in the dieletric, [2] FM are better than FC.
So the golden question is this: Where I can't obtain an FM series with the same voltage, do I go for the next voltage up or do I go for the FC series?
Also, and more specific to the X-LPS, can the IC's be upgrades. I don't really know their function (op-amps?).
Finally, the green and brown caps... Can anyone recommend replacements? The current ones are marked with L103J, L104J, L122J, L822J, L332J and L333J?
Thanks,
Dave
