Hello everyone! I am new here and this is my first post. Glad to see there is such a vibrant community of headphone lovers out there.
I recently purchased an X-Can v3 which I am using with HD-590s. On my favorite classical, baroque, and choral recordings, I love the warmth and delicacy of the X-Can, coupled with the bright and airy soundscape of the Senns. It's a nice and "creamy" sound! I really couldn't ask for anything more.
Things change when I listen to rock, techno, and similar selections. The midrange is smooth and crisp but the top end is sluggish. I could live with that as a by-product of tube circuitry, but what really gets me is the low end. It's almost non-existent. The bass output is really pathetic and that is my main gripe.
So what are my options? I imagine the first thing I want to do is upgrade the power supply from the awful buzzy wall wart. I'd like to either purchase or make my own toroidal transformer. Any ideas? Will this dramatically increase the bass response? If not what can I try?
Looking forward to all of your excellent suggestions!
