I recently upgraded my valves to JJ electronic E88CC:s. While I was pleased with the sound, they did not last longer than a month, so I was forced to switch back to the Jan Philips.
Now I am looking for some replacements (longer lasting ones, preferably). The only other upgrade is a 1000 mA PSU. I have a V2, with a Cambridge Audio 640C V2 player, and a Sennheiser 650HD.
Does anyone have recommendations on what to get, and a good supplier?

Ah, now, Magnus, you're getting into the "wonderful" world of tube rolling. Strange that the JJ tube only lasted a month - there may be a problem there (ask Mike or Rick to see if there's a problem). Sovtek and Electro-Harmonix 6922s are pretty good, but the likes of NOS MULLARD, SEIMENS and AMEPEREX are significantly better, but may cost more. Here's a set of MULLARD 6DJ8 at quite a good price: cgi.ebay.co.uk/2x-Mullard-ECC88-6DJ8-Vintage-Audio-Radio-Tubes-Valves_W0QQitemZ330085033771QQihZ014QQcategoryZ39997QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItemSome of the best versions of the 6DJ8, ECC88, 6922 family of valves are the Russian mil-spec ones, the 6N23P and the 6N23P-EB. I would try these, especially the latter, as it's a mechnically improved, long life variety of the standard 6N23P. And here's some 6N23P-EBs: cgi.ebay.co.uk/NOS-Matched-Pair-6N23P-EB-Musical-Fidelity-X-Can_W0QQitemZ180073997701QQihZ008QQcategoryZ81741QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem

Thanks a lot! I went for the Mullards. mike or Rick: Is there a problem? ;D Is this the right place to ask, and do you (or anyone else who knows) need additional info? What happened was basically the the right channel went dead. When I switched back to my old valves it came back, so I'm pretty sure it was a dead valve.

Obviously a dead valve Magnus if you replaced it with another one and it worked. I didn't like the sound of those JJ valves at all, you're much better going for the 6H23P-EB or the Mullards but make sure the Mullards are brand new and not used.
Mike.

I've got the Mullards, and I am very pleased with the result. The JJ's actually had better treble on my setup, but at the expense of bass. It's was there but very subdued. Good for opera arias.
The Mullards have really got much better bass, and they perform well otherwise too. The only person I would not recommend them to is someone who has cans that already empathize the bass and does not want more.
Thanks the everyone who helped out!

If the Mullards are brand new / never used you will seriously find they fill out in all departments after a good few hours in operation.... give them a good 100 hours and report back then Do they have the 4 seams on top of the valves? I took delivery of a pair of so called Mullards a while back with no seams in the glass and marked "MULLARD" with heavy duty paint.... they were no more Mullards than I am a ballet dancer ;D The real deal will have 4 seams on the top of the valves and the paint should scrape off easily (chalky) Give them a while to burn in. Mike.
