Seen these guys about 5 times over the decades and NO WAY do headphones do justice to their live show... you'll never recreate the live event, whatever the headphone, just impossible to pull off.

Ear plugs? they're for Women, children and the infirm man! If you don't have your head in the PA bin you haven't experienced a real metal concert.... "earplugs" my royal arsehole If you're further away than this you're a nancy boy My mate Rhino, bassist with Status Quo And these guys give AC / DC one helluva run for their money in the "loudness" department

huh ? someone say something ? i'm not hearing to well since the cannon shots As for LOUD i have to say a Metallica concert i went to about 15 years ago was THE ABSOLUTE LOUDEST of any event i personally ever went to.I was up front in the mosh pit (bit younger and a lot tougher then ;D ) and for the very first time in my life i was actually in real pain from the volume of the music which even as fked up as I was told me loud and cear "BACK OFF YOU FREAKIN' IDIOT ! GOING DEAF IS NO FUN !"which I did,way back, and even then the temporary damage was too the point where I could no longer enjoy the event the pain was so great so I ended up back at the car drinking beers waiting for my "crew" to come out though being an outdoor concert I could still hear the music but NOW i was finally far enough away to hear the fkn thing without it feeling like someone was sticking an damn ice pick in my ears

yeah, always a good idea to try and get to the "center" and in proximity of the board where the PA is being dialed in from. You KNOW that is the sweet spot it being where the whole thing is adjusted from so the slap back echo and uneven response you can get to the sides or up high is absent (indoors obviously). Way back in my scary teenage years it was the norm to have a keg party for no apparent reason other than there was beer and there was time to drink it ( ) so things being a LOT MORE layed back in those days it was no big deal to go to a local state park in a fkn caravan of cars/vans then once there set up in a circle with the "main event" closing the circle with all the partying to the middle. This "main event" being the row of beer kegs in galvanized tubs and block ice and THE SOUND which were always stacked JBL PA cabinets with top horns angled down with the "signal" either an open reel deck playing 7.5 IPS tapes or on a good day when one of the vans opened up out would come the guitar cabinets, amps, mics, and a drum kit for an "impromtu" mini concert (we had some SERIOUS tune-meisters hanging out n our gang of nightmares back in the day so to say "mini-concert" would not be a stretch) ! where this is going is even though I fiddled a bit with audio electronics since the age of 12 I knew NOTHING about acoustics (even though those fools let me at the board a couple of times because they were drunk enough to not realise what they were doing ) and especially Outdoor PA system acoustics but I did discover something even my alcohol/reefer clouded brain could decipher even back then before things got complicated (no internet,no everybody knows everything if they can google) and that was how some speakers sounded LOUD right up close while others did not project until you got at least ten feet away so I would fk with people by sitting on the table where the horn cabs were stacked with my head right in the fkn mouth of the JBL horn while sipping a cold one to those ten feet away (who were getting the FULL SPL TREATMENT !) it appeared to be an insane act and they would look at me as if i was a madman, something since answered in the affirmative to any who had doubts, but what they did not realise was i was in a fkn virtual cone of silence there being almost not enough volume for me to hear the damn music being in the "dead zone" of the horns projection !I had to shift to the stage monitors to hear any REAL SPL level ! Taught me a lot about audience coverage and what LOUD is which is really all about location and perspective and which even my stoned ass could understand while those that marveled at my appearance of insane behavour never DID "get it" and why I am the RICKMONSTER and they are not..........even though they always wanted to be **

Hi All
Go listen to Van Halen 1 or 2 albums. And who said anaolgue was bad. Excellent guitaring and excellent recordings. Still have my Rega and Cyrus gear off when i bought the LP's and very few new albums sound as good.
