Just done the caps pack on my old V1, its really rounded off the other two projects with the sound returning to where it was but better. The tubes and PSU increased most things, with a lot more dynamics, bass and detail, and the caps mod has re-Marantzified the system. The cap kit had great instructions, and the one tricky aspect of cap removal is definitely a knack that anyone can pick up with a little practice and the right tools.
An odd result has been that the right channel is passing a minor signal throught when the volume is right down, have I damaged something?
One major area left is the diodes, does anyone have a recommended shopping list, perhaps another kit could be useful?
One area might be the power inlet, getting rig of the 2.1mm thing which makes constructing a thick cable a real problem.

An odd result has been that the right channel is passing a minor signal throught when the volume is right down, have I damaged something? Most of them do that but through the left channel and considering you never listen at zero volco level it's not worth even thinking about... perfectly normal with V1 / V2 and I've yet to hear one that doesn't let a teeny bit through from one channel at zero volco. Glad you got the caps installed, give them a good few days to form and the sound will get even better (I promise you ) All the best. Mike.

crosstalk. The only way around it is full channel isolation all the way back to the line cord (true dual mono). Very expensive plus makes for a way bigger chassis size (another power supply is added) with no real benefit for the average listener with music as the measure though dynamics are improved by not using a shared power supply where the current delivered is split between the two so if one side is playing the more dynamic material it steals from the other side to produce the peaks but if BOTH channels are trying to produce a peak event simultaneously the result is compression due to the supply running out of steam.
Channel separation specs (crosstalk specs) is almost always far superior to any source material where 20-40db stereo separation is the norm while the electronics are just about always above 60dB and regularly above 80db
