Just a question - anyone has tried to change cables inside x-Can - they look computer like to me. Maybe some fixed connections instead of those funny connectors and some silver plated copper might help. ANy thougths. I've performed Pinkie Mod, have little Pinkie instead of wallwart and change tubes - the sound improved enormously but I'm just thinking is it all or there is still some room for improvement. Volume pot in my X-Can is ALPS so I think stepped attenuator might improve sound in this area. But going back to question - any opnions on recabling this baby?

Aethelred,
Haven't tried it yet, but in the very near future I'm going to try silver cabling in the V3. I'll keep you posted.

I'll be honest and save you some money and time. I could easily say that fitting some exotic hook up wire improves the sound of your amp 100% and I could easily charge a big price for doing it but that's not what I'm about. I work on honesty and won't recommend anything unless it provides an absolute improvement in SQ. I rewired a V1 and a V2 with pure silver and it sounded exactly the same (in my opinion) sure it looked better but, once the cover is on, you'll never see it again. Nope, I refuse to go down that route where bullshitter becomes my middle name and I will continue to deal with the parts that make a real audible improvement at a price everyone can afford. That's my opinion and obviously you're free to spend vast quantities of money on fancy boutique "wires" but no way am I going to pretend they make a difference and wouldn't fit them even if they came free... IMO a waste of money and time in this department.

I was rather referring to some cheap copper silver plated wires that are more build with better quality. I'm all for SQ and if I cannot hear the difference why spend more? My idea was just fix those connections with some goos quality copper silver plated isolated in teflon. Present wiring looks very delicate and I cannot judge the quality of this. My main concern are those tiny computer like connectors. 100 % agree with You PF on money issue though.

You could desolder the latching sockets and wire straight onto the PCB, yes no problems, whether or not it will improve SQ who knows it's certainly worth a go and won't do any harm.... a few less connections in the signal path never did any harm
