I sort of gave up on the edicron thing and ordered a pair of EH 6922 from triode electronics. They arrived today and I just put them under the hood. How long does the burn in usually take? Nevertheless i think i'll have a listen in a bit.

EH seems to have more extended and smoother, but less bright highs then JAN and a bit fuller bass. I'm liking it so far.

Quite a few people seem to like the Electro Harmonix 6922, glad you're getting on well with them

After some more listening all of the above things still stand, but i miss some of the sense of space and soundstage that came with the JAN 6922. In that sense the EH sounds a bit "dead" in the upper registers. I'm currently listening with AKG K501. The tubes are hardly burned in thou.

After full burn in the tubes have really opened up and i can definately recommend them as an upgrade from the stock JAN's, especially if you think the highs are too bright.

From my very brief listen to the EH valves they sounded not bad at all, pretty mellifluous and laid back, the kind of signature a lot of people associate with that valve amp sound Could also be described as chocolaty, velvety or they could just be classed as nice sounding As I say, I just had a brief listen after modding a guys amp (they were fitted in it) Always give valves a good few weeks burn in before the true sonic signature will become apparent, valves are an animal where burn in and eventual burn out is fact... Glad you like them! Enjoy the music. Mike.
