Here's one I came up with earlier ;D Mr. X-PSU comes in a fancy aluminium enclosure. This is not just to make it look good it is also to provide shielding. Grab some tin foil (aluminium foil) and carefully clad your wallwart with it, making sure to avoid the power pins that plug into the AC socket. A good way to clad the wart is by sellotaping 1 inch pieces of aluminium foil onto it until the entire wart is effectively "wrapped" in tin foil. The sellotape will not only help to attach the foil onto the wart it will also provide a good serviceable coating on top of the foil. Another way is to use self adhesive aluminium tape (available cheaply from ironmongers) attach little pieces until you have fully covered the wart and, bob's your uncle, you have a shielded wart! VERY cheap tweak (pennies) does it sound good? You tell me Edit: Here's one I've just started on using sticky backed aluminium tape: I think it will make a much better finish than the stuff you use to roast Turkey in May continue onto the wallwart cable with something just for the sheer perversity of it

An alternative is the self adhesive copper tape. You can get this is 2" and 1" versions.I've used this to shield the cavities around the pick-ups in my Bass guitars to great affect. So you can go for silver foil or the full bling copper type.................

Of course Roberto, we could also get the wallwarts zinc anodised and chrome plated or even build a dedicated aluminium wart enclosure............... Copper certainly would "look" nice covering the wart though and still remain in the "pennies" tweak category. Keep these cheap tweaks coming, the more the merrier

Now,in order to get the full effect of shielding, would the shielding need to be connected to earth ? Not sure on this one,but I guess Rick will have a view !!

...now that you mention it........ I once did a mahogany cigar box phono stage that was more freakin' noise generator than it was gain stage (60dB ) and the fix was lining the box with copper tape on all surfaces then attaching it to ground right at the RCA jack entry point. While it looked pretty cool in a way it was just so much "fluff" without a defined ground connection which in this case worked at the circuit input (as an extension of the input interconnect cable ground). The "trafos shield" same thing.Totally valid but only if at some point there is a solid ground reference to earth ground (the lowest Z potential) so right at the third lug of the line cord is the best solution or if only a two phase mains cord then at the circuit "nuetral" point which will extend to circuit ground of whatever active circuit it is connected to. Ever see those wing nuts with the aluminum foil hats ? They beleive they can block out alien signals or microwaves by wearing the "head gear" but if you really want to freak one of those guys out explain to them it only works if they are grasping a cold water pipe or a metal rod driven into the ground and that if they move away they are WIDE OPEN to the signals and ready to be harvested by aliens for having impure thoughts

Of course, just run a thin wire from the "shielding" to wart pin. Drill a very thin hole on pin nearest to the body of the wallwart, slip the wire into it an fire on a blob of solder.
