Another great job.
However.......................You see,I just don't quite get the whole X-10D thing. Been there, tried it,and sold it on Ebay !
Maybe it works well with cheap shity sources that struggle to even drive the input to a pre-amp.
I'm sure the whole X-10D worked for MF............48,000 of the originals were made, and now they've done it again, albeit at a much lower volume.
Go on, someone needs to explain this one.Maybe I'm missing out, or perhaps the X-10D should be discussed under the "Bullshitters Exposed" set of threads ?

MF themselves have admitted that electrically it's "not actually there" on the product page. They also claim it presents absolutely no load to the source that's plugged into it, which is a bit of a worry... I was always under the impression that outputs were supposed to be low-impedance but inputs are supposed to be quite high, aren't they?

PF Can you check your BOM.It's just that the pics don't quite match up with the BOM..........It's the 2 50V electro caps that look like 820uF (strange size) in the pics, rather than the 10uF in the BOM............They do look quite big !
Thanks

Sorry Roberto but what is a BOM The 820uF was a 470uF, 820 was all I had kicking about.

A BOM is a Bill Of Materials. A shopping list. That will self-destruct in 10 seconds...

Ah yes, of course, a "parts list"..... sorry my head is up my arse tonight (or should that be "ass") yes, sorry, I will add to the description and fess up that I substituted the stock 470uF with an uber tall Pana FM 820uF ;D

Just confused me a bit !..............Couldn't see the 10uF caps and couldn't see where these 820uF had come from. Thanks
With mods like these it's difficult ( well for me at least) to work out where the improvement has come from.
Is it just better quality componants . Is it bigger value componants.
A lot will be the first............getting rid of the stock jamicons, but would changing the 1000uF for 1600uF say also bring another improvement ? Usually if it's a power supply issue then bigger ( with decent FM or FC's) will tend to be better................with the usual issue of diminising returns.......
But changing cap values can have filter issues (in non-psu) applications, and changing these to bigger or smaller vaues can have a detrimental effect.
So could those 470uF be changed for 1000uF or even bigger to yield even more improvments.( and then just end up buying 10 ,1000uF caps ) ?
Thanks
