Just an update on these, had some time to run in. Main listening was through the Hi-fi, they certainly improve with some run in, I do quite like these caps, they have a nice tone to them with good bass, this is judging ones in the buffer decoupling stages that runs on the output of my dac, when first put in the sound was a little flat but after burning in they open right up! One thing I will say is that they are very nicely made, the high temp makes them useful too, may make decent cathode bypass caps in tube gear

One of their selling points was "made to withstand the torturous conditions of an automotive engine" so they sure are well built. The 100uF are excellent in the X-CAN v3 (not Graham Slee Solo!) and are also good in the v2. One thing's for certain, they are good for certain audio applications and if high operating conditions apply then may well be the cap of choice.... I notice they've just introduced a 150c cap but their website is down at the moment... will link top the PDF when it's back up.

Yes, I did notice the lead ends, something you don't see very often that! They work nicely in the buffer but that uses discrete regulation, low ESR doesn't seem to upset these. Anyway with how hot tube circuits get these caps are ideal, good reliability and good sound! I'm going to try them with my battery supplied WTF is it amp next

A bit of a thread resurrection time!
I recently found the flat pads on my Grado SR225's were shedding like a labrador in a heatwave so bought some new ones despite never really using these headphones.
Obviously they then needed a test drive so I plugged them into my default amplifier the WAD HD83 and it just didn't gell even with Radio Paradise Rock Mix.
So I dug out the Xcan V1 Samwha and found the the missing Maplin 3A PSU and wow serious synergy!
This still rocks - thanks Mike

This still rocks - thanks Mike Wow.... this sure is a thread resurrection David, 13 years to be precise You've actually managed to find synergy with Grato, sorry, "Grado SR-225" 'phones? Good on you mate! I never managed to find synergy with ANY Grado headphone, particularly with regard to the physical contact between them and my ears, it always felt like a pair of grappling hooks were connected to my ears with a small man climbing up a rope onto my head...... I used to call them the "Grippo SR-225" I could suffer them for a max of 20 minutes and then it was a case of "grabbo SR225" off of my head and throw them out of the nearest window. I managed to find a great pair of pads that made them a lot more comfortable on my ears: Great 'phone to ear "comfort synergy" but the downside was it stripped all of the detail (and volume) out of the music........ it sounded like a medium sized (gender non specific) mouse farting through a foam block..... very comfy but it deffo added an acoustic barrier...... almost like putting two pillows over your ears..... quite a strange effect Im taking the piss David, having a laugh, (are we still allowed to do that?) good on you mate..... glad you're enjoying the music! All the best, Mike.

Hi Mike I hope you are well?
A friendly piss take is always appreciated especially in these times.
I largely agree with your assessment with the Grados particularly the comfort or lack of! In fact the Grados have been stuffed in a drawer and were doing nothing - testament to their lack of comfort! The situation is made worse because my usual headphones are 15 pus years old and are very worn in and comfortable!
I probably need some new headphones - preferably closed for isolation - any recommendations please?

You can't beat the good old trusty, built like a battleship, Beyer DT-770 mate..... superb synergy with the X-CANS (V1)...... they are made in Germany and are sooooo comfortable..... the bass digs so deep your toe nails will curl up....... superb partners for the X-CANS (V1) the 80 ohm impedance version (there is also a 250 ohm version) is perfect synergy with both the X-CANS and X-CAN V2. These are the ones I recommend (closed 'phones)...... www.thomann.de/gb/beyerdynamic_dt770_pro80_ohm.htm?glp=1&gclid=CjwKCAjw8-78BRA0EiwAFUw8LPloMtcZ6a6uxpwecHRdwygYlVxx_k5yr596Mo20IVi67eZ8KAT74RoC9qUQAvD_BwEI'm fine David, I adapt to any given situation...... I think this covid thing is a smoke screen to install a new world order, instill fear, divide people etc. etc. etc. but I'll keep my mouth shut on that one incase the sheeple brand me (literally brand me!) with a hot non conformist (masked up) iron Hope all is good with you mate. All the best, Mike.

Hi Mike Sorry for the delay in replying.
Good advice there thank you. The DT 770 pro were on my list but then as usual I started to dream about some HD 250s and even Audio Technica Woodies!
Admittedly I was going to go for the 250 ohm versions rather than the 80.
I shouldn't have read your last link - I have just spent too much time googling Sunrise Amps for sale!
Stay Well
David
