ffs! what next a timer to tell you how many hours are on your headphones? you know you get these guys who say "only 7 hours on them" how the f**k do they know?? do they listen with a stopwatch? hehe. Burn in timer my arse, if the bugger survives a 24 hour soak test at 105C then it's good to go

years ago (like 30 ) I did a "Build a Phono Stylus Timer" from Popular Electronics magazine that actually had a use because it logged the hours on the phono stylus and could give an approximation of when a replacement was due.I have no clue where it went but it was a cool "toy" in my system. i also did a build about the same time for a "turnatble synchronous motor control" from the same magazine that later ended up being a very expensive commercial product for VPI. IDENTICAL unit right down to the panel layout but mine cost pennies on the dollar compared to the VPI. Also went south at some point along with the timer and come to thoink of it the PE "Build a Balanced Phono Stage" project. Most likely got tossed at some point as junk during my "audiophile perfection years",a time when i suffered through the absolute worst sound ever because I bought into all the hype at the time and thought I had to go along to get along. Luckily I regained my audio sanity and now build/buy to please myself no matter what the "experts" say I should do.i even have tone contyrols and filters in my current system
