Old thread revisited ;D
Some things I like a lot-the attention to detail aspect
1-Input RFI filters 2-Output RFI filters 3-Nailing the input ground to chassis while isolating all other ground connections from a "hard ground"......
Others not so very :
1-That big honkin back to back DC blocking electrolytic in an attempt to make a non polar cap.An SQ butcher for sure unless done with care 2-Double buffers-I never ever never ever liked doubling up buffers even though they give you pure kill power. For me they fk with the small things, the softest passages way too much and so are at their best on the peaks but not the middle where music lives 3-Not real comfy with the light bulb for the load sharing protection/ output protection resistive element.May sound fine but that it is audible i have zero doubt since ALL resistors are audible when in series connection and this is no more than a level sensitive resistor after all.Consider this also-just how DO you match up light bulbs for both interchannel and inter buffer matching ?
I am also no fan of monolithic "InAmps" to do the balancing being of the opinion that it is done WAY better (audibly) with a passive transformer but that would increase the price way beyond what it would be otherwise so the choice understandable. That there are active IC versions of most passive solutions is not because they are a better way but because they are a CHEAPER way even though it means a power source must be included in the cost equation.

BTW Mike-full specs here www.britishaudio.co.uk/PHO1FLY.htmlthe amp is still available yet the BUF04 has been out of production for a while.wonder how they keep the price so low on an amp using an obsolete (hard to find/expensive ? ) part.........

Self edit here after slapping myself upside the head a few shots in an attrempt to slap some sense in ALL non-polarized electrolytics are in fact two internal capacitors series connected either back to back or front to front so this no different than using say a BG N cap just not as " pretty" ;D the older we get the more stuff leaks out of the brain, not sure if it is through the nasal cavity or the ears but leak it does..........
