I'm thinking of ordering a pair of Audio Nirvana full range speakers. I always wanted to test full range ones and their prices including worldwide shipment seem ok. Not the best ones for sure but pretty good for the money from what I've read so far. Anyone got experience with those? you find them here: www.commonsenseaudio.com/choose 'Audio Nirvana' on the left menue PS: my garage is nearly finished and fall/autumn is approacing. Soon I can make speaker and amp cabinets and... ;D Just convenient that my wine fridge is in the garage too

Some of the more famous full range drivers are Lowthers and Corals. Coral, I had heard b4, driven by a 300B SET. Not bad the sound but just a bit too smooth for me although very coherent sound. The frequency extremes always seem to suffer though and that leads me firmly in multiway speakers.

what size man ? I only have experience with small cone full rangers so can only comment on my own experiences but a couple of points 1-simple speakers deserve simple amps and by simple I means single ended class-A in the 4-10 watt range.I have had good luck with everything from a Pass Zen Amp to a single ended EL-84 in pentode mode to 300B SET to 2A3 SET but when I tried a really otherwise nice sounding PP EL-84 and a PP 2A3 amp it was no contest. The reason is there is nothing between the amp and the speaker so where push pull shines-pushing through complex crossovers it falls down here even if the amp is a good one. 2-Don't expect the highest highs or the lowest lows without some assistance (subwoofer and supertweeter) but for everything else, the zone where 95% of the music lives you can expect a nice homogenous sound with no "disconnects" and a nice gradual/natural rolloff rather than the false humps you get with far too many speakers to give the illusion of wider response 3-Power.Having a single cone do everything means you have ultimate SPL limits so busy music played loud in a large room just won't get it but if you sit close and play small scale music the sound will be so real you'll want to reach out and touch it. Small rooms, close seating, single ended low power amps and small scale "human" music and you are home free melhuish.org/audio/
