Got a Sony MZ-RH1 a few weeks ago and have been happily digitising my LPs so i can listen to them on the go...it sounds f*****g brilliant... it can power my AT900 Headphones from its headphone socket and even has a line out for some seriious hookups to headphone amps(havnt tried it yet)
Cool as i dont need to faff about with computers etc to record

I always though Minidisk was underated as a recordable media, certainly sounds better than most MP3 players

I went down the Philips route with DAT, really liked it.... pity nobody else did Yeh mate, that minidisc will beat the arse off mostly pants 3 (MP3) and the headout should be pretty oomphy I'd imagine...... didn't those stupid Eurocrat people limit the output on more recent mostly pants 3 players to "protect" people's hearing? My old DAT player would blow your brains out if you wanted it to Actually sandy.... we criticize MP3 but do you remember these guys? At the time they were the number one in portable audio.... I had one and let me tell you I think I'd rather carry an MP3 player around instead of a dansette and 100 LP's

Mike
I still have a Sony DTC-55ES DAT deck in good working order the last time I tried it a while back. (modded of course!) I used to search in vain for prerecorded DAT tapes. I never tried Minidisc though, I was always suspicious of ATRAC ! In fact I am suspicious of any sytem that throws away information that they reckon I won't miss if it's not there. Alex

XTRProf Which one are you asking about, Minidisc or DAT ? Alex Minidisk the topic as DAT is obviously superior as even the recording studios also used them to transfer mastering to the CD plants. But now getting the DAT tape will be a problem with the CDR and DVDR taking over, right?

XTRProf I presume so. In recent years my DAT player was mainly used as a DAC with a headphone output for the PC. Alex
