When using my Cambridge Dacmagic with my Little Dot II headphone amp and Sennheiser HD650s I find that I rarely get the volume nob beyond the quarter to the hour position. In fact a lot of the time volume is more likely to be 20 minutes to the hour. I guess the output level of the Dacmagic is quite high. I was wondering if anybody had ever tried volume attenuators like these: www.hificables.co.uk/ProductDetails/mcs/productID/10787/If the attenuators allow me to use a greater range of the volume control is this likely to bring sound quality benefits? I am not suffering from any channel imbalance but am curious as to whether these things would improve my setup.

theadmans These would probably achieve the results you are after, but 20GBP each for an adaptor which most likely has 2 metal film resistors in it, seems a bit rich. SandyK
