Having found my way back to vinyl again after years of Digital molested analogue goodies, I have bought me an old but perfectly working Technics SL-Q2 Turntable. I have ordered an AT95E cartridge from Graham and now I want to upgrade the spagetti cables that are the IC's to my amp. This means I want to replace them with some proper cables that will have to fit through the casing and I reckon have to be soldered somewhwere on the inside. I know how to handle screwdrivers and soldering irons so no worries there. All input regarding suitable interconnect cables and how to do tricks are highly appreciated! Cheers, Dennis.

I can highly recommend these ... and should anyone need a kit of bits, I'm sure I can provide at cost. I have some high quality CT100 coax, some silver wire, and some WBT connectors. The WBT connectors come out at £3.50 each, a quid a metre for the coax, and a quid a metre for the silver ... so a pair of interconnects 1 m long would be around 20 quid with postage. My system uses them exclusively .. and I can honelst say it was worth the investment.

Thanks for the input, but isn't there a cable that is of good quality, a little thinner, because it has to go into the turntable?
Cheers,
Dennis.

wildebassman I know the stuff you mean, but I haven't seen it around for many years. It has to be really thin and light. Perhaps you could tightly twist together a couple of lengths of fine plastic insulated stranded wire ,if you can't locate any.It has to be very fine and light to avoid compromising the tonearm. Most tonearms are shielded these days, provided their bearings aren't worn. Yes, it is a second rate suggestion, but may get you out of trouble if you can't find the proper stuff. Graham may have much better advice ? SandyK

SandyK I'm on holiday now thinking about the options, I haven't opened the turntable yet so I don't know how things are on the inside, maybe Graham has experience with Technics turntables?
